Whenever he was on the ball you could feel he's quality. But I think he went quite for large periods of the game. Difficult opponent though so still I would say solid performance.
He was quiet due to the fact the player behind him refuses to pass the ball forward. There were many occasions when he found himself in a pocket only for Moussa to pass it backwards or sidewards. We need one of the two holding midfielders to be braver on the ball and get it through that first line.

He frustrates me a bit, he needs to get on the ball more.

His spacial awareness and finding pockets needs some work.

I'd argue that he doesn't get the ball enough.

Sometimes he looks like he's covered and the ball will instead go to someone else, they should give him the ball unless its someone is in a better position (a safer option isn't always a better position). He can get out of tight spaces and will dribble past players for fun, the others need to trust him more, his first touch is excellent.

If it's him or Lo Celso in midfield they should get more touches of the ball than Højbjerg.

There is definately an element of that, there must be a reason why they don't trust him as much.

Lo Celso gets on the ball a lot more.

I think that comes down to the fact he's really an 8, not a 10. He can do a job in a more advanced position but he isn't natural there. He should really be alongside PEH to get the most out of him.

The one where he shot? And missed the pass to the player just beyond the penalty spot who was unmarked and in acres of space. I thought that was good play right up until he shot. Poor decision. Almost certain goal if he found our player which had a clear lane to.
In one of the early Europa matches where you could here every word from the coaching staff, and also in at least one of the training videos, you could hear Jose et al. shouting "Shoot Tanguy, Shoot!," so I think he is being coached to be a bit more aggressive with his shot selection. It still may not have been the best choice under the circumstances, but I could see why he decided to o for it. Plus, I think about half his goals have been deflections. Certainly his first and his most recent against ManU were deflected.

I have to disagree, playing him as one of the two really didn't and won't work. It will leave us too exposed centrally as we all know he doesn't have the engine to shield the back four as well as be the creative outlet we need. If anyone is to play alongside Hojbjerg it will be Lo Celso with Ndombele in front of them. Part of the problem is although Sissoko is very effective defensively, he isn't great technically and therefore isn't able to find Ndombele in the pockets as much as a Lo Celso would. I have every confidence that when Lo Celso is fit, he will play in a midfield two with Hojbjerg and with Kane's developing role and Ndombele's technical ability, we will have more than enough creativity in the attacking areas.

Some say Tanguy needs to be more involved in the game. But with Sissoko that's impossible, he needs Lo Celso so that they both play on the same page. A De Bruyne-Silva style.

Error. Tanguy is a No. 10. He has a brilliant last pass, No. 8 is Lo Celso, who has more physical condition, takes away and good ball transfer.

Immensely glad he’s sorted himself out. Now he just needs to be able to complete 90 minutes effectively. A good start this season.

Put in a great shift last night, Son buries the through ball and he’s king, otherwise the pass is largely forgotten

the key is for Jose to be brave enough to play GLC and TN together, even for a half- one of them would make the most of the space

instead of the joys of watching Sissoko panic every time the ball lands at his feet
Panic when it lands at his feet, couldn’t put it better myself. Sissoko looks like he has received a grenade with the pin pulled out.

This. 1000x this. I picked up at least 10 occasions where TN was in good space for the turn and the pass went backwards instead of forwards to him. And you can clearly see his frustration when this is constantly happening.

GLC needs to get back to fitness so we can finally see what PEH GLC - TN can do.

I do not know. But in the premier league a player with his characteristics cannot play as 8. His best performance here is playing as N10.
I remember everyone saying that about Modric too.

To my mind, if there’s a player genuinely capable of dictating a match, you want him to see as much of the ball as possible and that means putting him in the middle of the pitch.

He's a genuinely exciting player to watch as you're not sure where he will move the ball to next - some really inventive passing.

I noticed this too. It robbed him of one of his greatest assets to the team, his ability to start a mini-break from midfield by receiving and retaining the ball despite being outnumbered, and quickly finding the open man.

His teammates need to pass him the ball more. So many times a pass to Tanguy is on. But because he has a man nearby, they opt for a safer ball. TN is so talented that even if he has a man in close proximity, he can keep the ball and create something.

There was one occasion in the first half when he received the ball and anyone watching would of said go wide to Doherty, but instead he reversed the ball around the corner to Lucas who then went wide and Ndombele then carried his run into the box and just missed the return. Had he gone wide earlier Doherty would then be faced up by his man but due to Tanguy's first pass, it opened it all up.
