can't imagine he's gonna want to play under Jose now, even if he's embarrassed into improving I just can't imagine him liking/respecting him to put in the effort needed.
probably already onto his agent about a new club.
but then levy will of course look to get back what was paid which seems unlikely
It depends if Ndombele has respect for himself. If he decides to not play for Jose he's only making it worse for himself as he'll just prove Jose's point. And then others will see Jose is right.

Depends on the type of guy he is, hopefully he is the kind that cares about his reputation as a player. Wants to win big titles for club and country

Or he could be all about the money, and lifestyle. LOL as ekotto would say.

Ah, Benny.

If only he had cared, what a player he could have been.

That first example is exactly what I was posting about earlier, standing behind the press, not showing for the ball, not giving an out to the defence. Polar opposite to Lo Celso.

That analysis really is as damning as the viral video against Wolves.

Not one sprint in 45 minutes? I’m 52 and I sure as hell could manage 1 in a half.

I’d need oxygen after it though.

He did break out in a sprint to make a slide tackle I'm sure.
So not sure how long one must be sprinting to register a stat

Was Ndombele this lazy at Lyon? Seriously have to question our scouting if they've not picked up on his lack of work rate off the ball.

I would fully expect that for any player regardless of their nationality and remember JM gave Luke Shaw a similar bollocking and worse last year.

was there a whole section on sky sports about how crap he was? I very much doubt it.

Says Carragher who hasn't had the guts to coach.

Eriksen who was always a nicey nice coach, letting players rule the roost and wouldn't last 5 mins at any job in today's coaching world.

There's only so long a coach can defend a player and if he's tried the approach from the start and it's still not sinking in then he needs to try a new approach.

He hasn’t criticised Jose though??

Yep definitely sure
Ok, we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt then, he managed to match my one sprint in 45 minutes.

At least he didn’t need oxygen...

How would any of that change the fact that they are 100% correct. It's the topic under discussion, is relevant following the live match and they are discussing it.

For a footballer, let alone a premiership midfielder, to not register one sprint in 45 minutes of football is absolutely shocking.
The lad should be ashamed of himself and his team mates need to start calling him out on it. I would be royally pissed off, if I was working my bollocks off, only to look up and see him strolling around, hiding behind players and not really paying attention to what's going on.
Embarrassing and I'm having serious doubts about him now, which is so frustrating as he's such a talent.

Video of the analysis for those who haven't seen

I'm no fan of Carra, but great to see one media actually analysing Ndombele's performance (or lack of effort) rather than just focusing on spinning a story from Jose's words. Those clips of Ndombele ambling about the pitch and marking himself by not making space away from the closest Burnley players are damning. All I hope from this is that he gets the message it's not good enough, accepting that he only has himself to blame, and then knuckles down to get himself into shape and fight for the team. My god he has all the talent in the world, talent that other footballers can only dream of. World class ability with pub team mentality and physicality. Fingers crossed he can kick on now.

Have to say I agree with Carragher on this, whereas I usually disagree with much of what he says.

What we need right now is Mousa Dembele in that midfield. Power, drive and transitional play.

Moussa Sissoko does that so well but without the finesse of dribbling in tight spaces. He's not as skilled as Tanguy on the ball but at present, if fit I'd reckon Moussa would play over a non-interested Tanguy. Gutting to see. Perhaps the injury still bothers him? Such a shame as we were crying out for a player of Ndombele's ilk last season but he's just not turning up.

Jose may well already have had these conversations with Ndombele repeatedly in training, and now feels this is perhaps public outing is the only available line of motivation left?

That's definitely a sprint, ironically he actually looked pretty quick albeit very brief which is why it probably doesn't count stats wise

Personally I think when you're performing like that, multiple times, you're rightly susceptible to criticism whether that be private or in public. If we're talking about someone who is trying hard but just simply not performing then I think that's wrong but we're talking about someone who's getting paid a ridiculous amount of money every week and is just walking or strolling around the pitch like he doesn't care or have any responsibility.

Still, what does it matter? It's still shameful to have to look for whether he made a single sprint in 45 minutes or not.

If he can’t run then I am sure that would have been noticed in training. He would have to do the same drills as all the players. Hopefully there is a change.

From the top of my head, before I look into it, Pochettino criticised Sissoko and Dele and Adebayor
Sherwood criticised Paulinho and just about the entire team
But of course, it's when Mourinho does it that it becomes a controversy, because he isn't a big cuddly bear with lousy English pronunciation. No, HE is mean.

Jose’s had enough, like us fans. He called him out and it’s being proven that he was correct.

Players like Lo Celso, Moura, Alli etc are busting a nut every game due to our current situation, whilst he just ambles around the pitch. It would be disheartening.

I can understand poor form due to being unsettled in a new league, however the only thing to do in that situation is to get to work and on current evidence, he isn’t up to it.
