I guess this is why we found it so easy to get him. Everyone else knew.

Why on earth did we not get Tielemans??? Cheaper, fitter, more consistent and available 6 months earlier.

And much worse than Ndombele. Just remembered that Tielemans was waiting 2 months for offer from us or United before signed with Leicester so your argument isn't very good :)

Fuck it, play him as a striker and just let him goal hang. No need to track back, he can loaf around the opposition’s penalty box. Should get 75 minutes a game out of him by doing that.

If we're going to play him I think pushing up the field could mitigate some of his flaws. Lo Celso as the anchorman because he needs to be on the ball as much as possible and isn't afraid to work or get tackles in. Winks possibly alongside him. Ndombele, Bergwijn and Gedson/Lamela ahead of those two with Lucas (God help us) up front.

Our players like Sissoko, Vertonghen, Lamela, Eriksen, Ndombele and Aurier, just to name a few recent ones, have been subjected to a shit load of abuse, majority over the top and devoid of any reasonable grounds.
Yet the same shit fans expect to be respected by our players, and for the players especially key ones to show loyalty to the club. Yes the fans pay to follow the club, but you are not paying the players wages in full. Even if you are indeed paying for their wages, as human beings, if fans cannot show players the basic respect, regardless of how much they are paid, you have no rights to expect anything from them. When they sign their contracts, it does not include accepting verbal abuse from club fans.
If you can only bring yourself to openly support the players you like, then team sport is probably not something you should be investing your time and money on. Choose a sport like tennis.

I am under no obligation to support a player like Eriksen taking the piss for a calendar year or Ndombele coming into a season fat & useless! They’re both talented but stole their paychecks! Ndombele’s being 10 million pounds!
If you find that acceptable, you do you. I don’t & will express that

D Except Lucas has played 90 minutes for way too many consecutive games! Ndombele not quite so much.

I dont disagree but Lucas for quite a few games hasn't been effective. He tries to dribble too much and isn't successful these days. He isn't the only one but Moura seems to dribble despite whether there is space or not. lamela used to do that a lot. So Moura runs into trouble. Its fine on an open field but when there are two or three defenders close to each other he doesn't seem to understand to pass and get into new space,he just endlessly dribbles. NDombele picks his spots. NDombele though on the defensive side has been a zero which is really frustrating for me because I would hate to lose a player with great skills

I thought with his earlier cameos we had signed a magician it turned out to not be David Copperfield or David Blaine but rathe Tommy Cooper.

He’s on par with Soldado in terms of how much he’s flopped, I’d give him on more year, if he’s the same next season he has to be sold imo

He scored from open play in his first game for us.... exceeded Soldado at that moment for me.

I always give foreign signings a full season to bed in before writing a player off. But I am very concerned, he has a very fragile mentality.

Yeah not giving up yet, but unless he develops an appetite for the physical battle his career in the PL will be short lived.

It’s not just a fitness thing, that is what I’ve noticed the last few times I’ve watched him. It’s definitely an issue but it’s similar to the “we have no striker issue”, in so much as it’s true but there are other bigger issues going on that are getting ignored.

He clearly has skill, he can beat a man and he has passing vision but more often than not when he gets on the ball in midfield he actually stifles the play. He turns three times to many or plays a pass that’s not on or most obvious of all goes down where with a bit of additional toughness and balance he could keep the move going. His ability to do something magic is there, his awareness of when to is severely lacking.

On the defensive side it’s even worse. Obviously he doesn’t track back, looks like fitness but then he moves fine when he’s dribbling. He has no awareness of space on the pitch defensively, doesn’t work for his team mates and doesn’t press.

He doesn’t deserve a place in the team right now despite him maybe being a difference maker. I’d rather see Gedson given a run if I’m honest.

Every time I see Doucoure for Watford, I think he is the one we should have gone for. Consistently excellent in a struggling side
Proven premier league player, tremendous engine and presence and probably would have cost £15 million less. Also would not have needed a season to bed in with us still not being sure whether or not he will come good next season.

I think it would expose them more. He's the type of player who needs to see the game in front of him. If he's in a 10 position he's likely going to drop in to receive but it doesn't play to his strengths. His biggest asset is his ability to bring the ball out of tight situations and drive forward. And let's be fair to him, when arriving the field late he's impressed and done things of note. After the city game most were starting to look forward to him playing alongside Lo Celso.

It's why I agreed with your second comment. He needs to be steadily introduced, build his confidence, build his understanding of the PL rigours and its rhythm. Its the only way, exposing him to these situations will condition him. Putting him in another position won't improve him, we already know he's great in the pivot and with players around him harassing him, he can manage, he's just not in speed with it.

That's exactly why you should give foreign players a season, most of the time it's not so much playing style or ability, it's mentality.

Based on what we assumed he was going to be or what he has actually been showing for us? On the evidence of games he’s played for us he doesn’t really get the ball deep and drive effectively, he falls over more often than not. He isn’t reading the game in front of him, he seems very much an instinctual player. Those instincts maybe better suited higher up where he doesn’t have to read the game and he doesn’t have to have as much defensive responsibility (I’d go as far as saying he is the worst defender of any midfielder we’ve played in the last 3 years based on what he has shown so far)
