Seems we've bought Mr glass from unbreakable :( if only he had his planning ability...

Seriously though he seems very fragile. We have Lamela coming on and (often to his detriment) throwing his body around and this guy seemingly in pain at even the slightest contact. Also seems over confident in his ability to beat a man in tight spaces often running into a second man.
No creator was going to look good today in that formation but still expect more than he gave.

It would be nice to see players busting a gut to get back as much as they do to get forward.

He will come good when we have proper structure. Mourinho carries the can here. The whole team were poor. Seemed that none of our players even know each other

He reminds me of Heurelho Gomes the way he starts crying after any challenge he receives. He needs to man up
Gomes was brave and would fling himself about in defence in the Tottenham penalty area. There was also a period of some months before Redknapp was turned to as manager and coach, when Gomes in goal and winger Aaron Lennon were the two Spurs players who match after match put in great effort to save the club's rotten reputation as the team floundered. He got little praise for it, anymore than did Lennon, but they showed up others who were at sixes and sevens in competition domestic and European. The tallest player along with the shortest player, plugging away. They were indomitable.

What's Ndombele like? So far at Spurs, who really knows? He needs to buck up, that's for sure.

I think he showed one or two good things but definitely could and should show more. The question is where do you play him in all honesty. I thought a midfield two but he isnt but maybe as a 10?

Yeah, I think he's the more attacking of the two between he & Lo Celso.

Gomes was brave? Lol never thought I’d read that on here. As for ndombele I’ve never seen a professional footballer blow out of his arse at the mere thought of running hard for 20 minutes I guess either JM will think he can build a team that can carry him or he must be gone in the summer it’s an embarrassment tbh did we not scout this guy properly?

Sorry, mourinho carries the can for a guy that rolls around each and every time someone comes within 2 years of him???
I love ndom, but he needs to get used to the physical side very quickly - that’s not on mourinho

I think the guy should play further forward

I think he is going to need a system that does not relying on him tracking back, tackling, box to box. But can you do that in the Prem ?

If you remember early on in Gomes Spurs career he was mentally weak, he even starting crying in one game. He ended good especially in the season we qualified for the CL but early on he was much the same as Ndombele is now.

Unfortunately becoming somewhat clear there is a mentality issue going on with him. The English game is fast, aggressive and with his style of play, its inevitable he be on the end of some rough treatment...simply not getting away from that. Either you don't want any of it or you pick yourself up, roll your sleeves and crack on with it.

Every time there is a challenge on him with any half decent substance to it, he either goes down and stays down or makes it quite obvious he is hurt. If you are the opposition, your loving seeing that as clear signs he doesn't fancy the rough and tumble of it all. Even when he comes on as a sub, he seems to lumber/trudge onto the pitch...just not the best signs to give off.

With the Euros around the corner, I'd have thought he'd be chomping at the bit to get in peak condition and string games together to be in contention for a starting place in the summer. Or is it a case of him having secured a big move, got a considerable pay rise in the process and now he can sit back.

The guy is one of the most naturally gifted players I've seen in a long time, the way he sees things and pulls off certain bits of play is in a lot of cases stuff you can't really teach. I genuinely believe in terms of ability,he has the potential to be one of the best midfielders around, not only in the league but in the world. However for the first time i'm questioning whether the the desire to go out and show that is there. Off the pitch, no idea if he is living the lifestyle of a professional footballer or not but something isn't quite right. Granted injuries haven't helped his situation and can't always judge players on their first season in this league but it is concerning.

I've written off this season for him and any time on the pitch/decent performance is a bonus from now until the end of the season. Even though it's unlikely imo as the guy is far too talented to give up on after one season, I hope Mourinho isn't put off by the issues around him and doesn't look to move him on the summer. For me, next season is the one and just hope there is a turnaround and he becomes a mainstay for us.

havent seen a guy as seemingly averse to the physicality of the prem since Paulinho. At least Paulinho was fit and found ways to be useful.

Have a feeling we’ve bought a dud here.
Very worrying how he goes down so so easily, he’s a fucking fairy it’s actually embarrassing for such a big bloke, especially compared to say lo celso who’s much smaller but has come in and adapted well and gets much more stuck in and doesn't go down crying every time anyone breathes on him.

I don't think he was bad today, the only person other than Lamela to break into their box. And should have had a pen as James ran across him rather than blocked the ball. The whole team were bad at getting the ball off Chelsea other than Erik; and people are just following a lazy narrative.

I guess this is why we found it so easy to get him. Everyone else knew.

Why on earth did we not get Tielemans??? Cheaper, fitter, more consistent and available 6 months earlier.

Ndombele (and Lo Celso, Berg) were the only positive players against Chelsea. I felt so bad for Ndombele, everytime he picked up ball in space you could see him try to look up, try to be positive on the ball but he literally had no options. It was either pass to an isolated Berg or do what everyone else does and pass to the wingback before they concede possession because they get pressed.

After all the fitness bullshit and lack of game time the last thing he needs is to come into absolute dog shit, tactically poor approach to football and build his game from that. He had absolutely nothing to work with yesterday

How the fuck do you get a winner star rating for posting

Great Post

I’m getting fed up with this site. The quality of poster ratings is really starting to piss me off. If people cannot rate constructively or actually rate the original poster with the star rating etc then I’m not sure I really want to be here and I worry about our fan bases negativity

Get behind the ratings properly
Totally agree. Just 18 months ago combining the nouns dwarf and midget with the adjectives tight, bald and tight would have got me 10 plus ‘funnies’. Nowadays I’m lucky it gets me a flaccid ‘d’oh’. Just not good enough

As @double0 said in another thread, we just need to keep playing him

He needs to work on fitness, match sharpness and learn the league.

He has moments during the game he looks poor, but it's mixed in with good parts as well.

He just needs to stay fit, work on his English (if he knows any yet, I think Sissoko has been his translator) and use his strength.

I still think he will turn out to be a good buy

I think it's clear to see if he was in our team of 2017 with Dembele, Wanyama etc he would be flying and be absolute world class.

However, he's not the type of player you'd want in the trenches with you which is our current situation. If we can get through this season and build something from the summer, maybe then he will flourish but only if we are patient with him. He's a 50/50 at the moment for me, have no clue what his Spurs future will be, hopefully we can make it work with him.
