The reports said it was his conditioning that was poor. Mourinhos comments suggest he is still learning what is required as a pro. That will be diet and physique.

Yep, I cant understand the comments from people suggesting Mourinho doesn't rate him when he clearly does. His conditioning just needs to improve before he can start games. Especially tonight against a team like Leipzig who's midfield work so hard. Jose said this two weeks ago:

The Spurs boss explained that Ndombele is now doing plenty of work behind the scenes and is doing more off the field than when he first arrived.
The player arrived in top flight football only three years ago in France and his body is still catching up with his big step up from the lower league game.

"That's what he is doing – we are taking care of him at every level," said Mourinho. "We are doing a global programme with him to try to take care of him.
"When we speak about global programme, we are talking about his work with the group, his individual work, his sports science, his nutrition, everything. It's like a full package to try to give him the best condition."

We'll have one hell of a midfield if he gets up to speed

and this prob explains why he is not starting......yet.

Some fans treat this like Sunday league and a few laps and shuttle jumps and good to go.

I think in time he will be one of first names on the team sheet.

A couple of brilliant bits of skill from him but seriously needs to be doing more in the 30mins we saw of him tonight

Still miles off a full game. Looked like he’d lost a pound or 2 though so that was a plus

Fingers crossed..

my take home lesson from this game is Ndombele needs to get fit and start doing the job he was brought in to do. or we need to get someone else.

Decent cameo, and seemed to have a bit more energy than recent outings, but collapsed to the floor for five minutes at the final whistle as if he’d just finished 120 minutes.

Talent in abundance, you can see that. The fact we haven't been able to get any sustained game time from him is becoming a problem. Forget Spurs season being a write off, his season doesn't look to be much better and for all the money involved in him, the return has been catastrophic.

This situation needs to be rectified otherwise we're missing an expensive, important part of a rebuild that so far has been a struggle.

Can't believe the naysayers are on him for last night. He played well and clearly understood we had a take a risk or two to try to square it up.

I can see the team sheet for Saturday already. Winks and Dier. I'll fkin scream.

It’s clear we need to judge him on what he can do from next season more consistently

I am guessing part of his poor conditioning is down to his underlying body composition and so his peak fitness levels may always be at the lower end of the squad but still seems a huge gap for improvement

He’s not going to start a game though is he, because he’s spent after 20 minutes!

That’s what is so bloody annoying. Watching him last night pissed me off even more. We should be getting 90 minutes of that from him.

how does he build it up then based on 15 here and 20 there. A number of others out there were dead, and Dier is just dead footed, but watch Jose pick him then suffer on Sat.

Loads of lazy rhetoric fitting going on in here, SSN style.

At no point last night did he look like he couldn’t hack another half hour playing at the same intensity, and he was playing at an acceptable intensity. He might not be Sissoko but if last night was the only snapshot we’d ever seen of him, then nobody would be saying he looked unfit or breathless. I accept that prior experience of him has to be taken into account, but this is bordering on witch-hunt levels of body shaming usually reserved for the Sun going after Z list celebs.
