A genuinely class player is injured and people in this thread are calling him fat, unprofessional, lazy, embarrassing etc. Some of you are fucking weirdos. I dont understand what makes Ndombele different from Lamela, Big Moussa, Kane etc who elicit sympathy when injured. Instead, he gets abuse. It's one of the more odd things I've seen on this site.
Another embarrassing and lazy misrepresentation of the gist of the thread. Really disgraceful that people come in here and shout stuff like "some of you are fucking weirdos" and then proceed to completely and utterly miss the point. Nothing but a ratings hunter.

Lamela Kane Moussa all play with heart and grit rating their ability is another matter whereas no one is disputing Ndombele ability just his stomach for the battle which up to now has been found by a long way. wanting

Erm? Lamela gets a shitload more stick than Ndombele about injuries? Obviously there are far more examples for Lamela as he's been here longer and injured more times but some gave him no sympathy when his brother was crippled, his dog died or his hip problems. He was accused of being a druggy.

Would you want Ndombele in the trenches with you when the bullets are flying .
No he would be cowering in the corner so to speak great talent no guts .
Seems to me every time he is tackled he is close to wanting to leave the pitch. what a wimp but great ability.

What if he's cowering in the corner because he's already been shot?

We all know “heart” is all that matters to you in a footballer. Doesn’t matter if they’re good footballers as long as they play with HEART ❤️

I'm not an expert on player fitness so how does it work in the off-season? Are players given their own fitness regimes/diets that they are meant to follow, or are they left to their own devices to stay fit and healthy?

Tbf I think he has too much 'gut'. That's the issue here :D

Yeah if his gut was his bum maybe...

Proper big bootaaaaaaay

Still a hugely talented player and just need him to stop getting injured and get a run of games.

White Dane is disparaging of my personnel belief that heart and fighting spirit goes a long way to help produce a winning team .
If you can pick a team of the Ndombele type player I.E soft underbelly and I pick a team of players with maybe less ability but untold fighting ability / heart I have no doubt who will come put on top .
The teams in history who have won the league have one thing in common and that is players who are hard who play with heart .
You will win nothing with a team of brittle players with little or no HEART

Kane. Bit harsh, he only gets one injury a season and hes probably the one player that plays without rest so injuries are inevitable

Could you please spell out what the correct interpretation is? My english must be worse than I thought.

I think jose was a bit naive playing him 2 games in such a short space of time. Especially after tanguy removed himself from selection from the brighton game. I find it hard to believe he is unfit. Dont they do fitness tests at the club.

and as just pointed out on the Son/ VAR thread - the abuse he gets from some for his sendings off (Southampton was stamped and kicked; Everton over turned; Chelsea Rudi swan dive and Lacazette) is astonishing....no way the same language would be used with some of our other players

This thread is bonkers.

There are two clear and obvious statements you can make about Ndombele:

1. He is extremely talented. A “baller” as the youngsters say.

2. His fitness record is worrying.

Everyone is arguing the toss over two opposite things.

I love watching Ndombele play and he looked excellent in 2nd half vs Norwich. However, he still has an awful lot to prove in the Premier League.

It is obvious that Ligue 1 is a far inferior league and it is obvious why he would shine in that league.

I still have full faith in him at Spurs, but he hasn’t proven anything yet.

I can think of 10 players in the league I would rather have in our squad in the immediate term.

Again, not to say that won’t change as Ndombele improves.

I think N'Dombele deserves some criticism on how he prepared for the season. Personally I think one could say the same about Alderweireld - as an example. Neither of them looked physically up to par when the season started. Does that also mean he was more likely to get injured? Maybe, but I think that is stretching it a bit. I could see the argument for being slightly less fit, we are talking about small % here, would slightly increase the likelihood for muscle injuries, but you can't say just because N'Dombele couldn't handle 90 mins of PL football in September he was given to get a groin injury.

As for fighting the pain. Sure - some pain is worth fighting - some is not. Especially with muscle injuries fighting the pain is generally speaking not the best idea. Even more so for a young player. Here again - saying that there is a correlation between playing through the pain of a muscle injury has anything to do with having a "soft underbelly" is rather silly in my opinion. Handling the pressure of receiving the ball in tight space in the 93 minute when you are 2-1 up has anything to do with being able to fighting pain? I would like to see that research documenting that.

Huge test for Mourinho this. Hopefully Sissoko might play a positive role. Getting N'Dombele to settle. Ensuring a trusting relationship between the player, manager and medical team.

The thread is over 400 pages, do you think it was started after the Southampton game to start slagging him off due to injury?

In mine, and some others view, his fitness since he arrived at the club has been a worry/disgrace/mystery, delete as appropriate, this stems from looking like he was knackered after 20 mins of the pre-season games, to not being able to seemingly play back to back matches, then being injured, then joining up with the national team, then being injured, then being fit, then being injured again etc etc amen.

In my view, he's a supremely talented footballer, and we've seen snippets of how good he can be, in comparison to his great displays in the CL last season. But...the shape he arrived in during pre-season, added to the example of the Bournemouth game earlier in the thread where he basically gives up chasing the ball because he's knackered (before half time) puts me in the camp of "very unhappy" with his fitness. This is NOT about his injury against Southampton, this is all the things mentioned, added to the fact Poch clearly had the hump with something about him after snapping at a journo in a press conference post game, plus Mourinho coming out with what he did a couple of weeks ago about him being "injured, always injured".

So to repeat, nothing to do with him being currently injured. NOTHING. Not doubting his ability. NOT DOUBTING HIS ABILITY. Unhappy with the current situation. UNHAPPY.

Hope that clears things up.

Well if he is unfit like many fitness experts on here claim then theres no wonder he is picking up injuries.
