Didn't train today I hear - we're in December and he doesn't seem to be nearly fit enough.

He's an unbelievable talent but I worry about the direction he'll take here

Did hear something from someone I trust but it’s third hand that Ndombele had a fallout with mourinho after united game.

I wonder if any of our itk have heard anything?

I don't really understand why he's being impugned on the basis of his current injury. He tweaked his groin by overextending himself going in for a challenge, it could happen to any player. He sat out three weeks, tried to come back but looked visibly hobbled and suffered a recurrence, which again could happen to any player.

Yes his lack of fitness is a concern which is holding him back from playing up to his top level, but he's had two injury spells (or three if you count the recurrence of the groin issue) which have prevented him from getting a sustained run of matches and building up his fitness. That doesn't mean he's somehow incapable of ever becoming fit.

Nubel
RB Alderweireld Vertonghen LB
Ndombele Soumare Lo Celso
Dele Kane
Son

I see these formations a lot on here. Dele has to play centrally behind Kane otherwise you'll see Dele from two months ago not the player we are seeing now in a system that suits him.

I'm not sure I agree with that

In the best recent team we've had, he played alongside Eriksen behind Kane, with the license to drift.

I think that would work fine

But that was also when we had 2 excellent fullbacks and an a monster Dembele + DM in the middle of the park.

In our current iteration I don't think we can get away with having 3 attackers playing that narrow without getting overrun, nor can we rely solely on our current fullbacks for width on both sides.

Right now we're already pushing our luck defensively a bit by playing Dele practically alongside Kane. Putting a third narrow attacker up there and losing both our attacking width and wide defensive cover would be suicide (and a key reason why Poch's diamond was shite).

BS!!! From whoever you heard it from!

Love it that it took Herc only four minutes to dispel that rumour. :)

Another 15-20 minutes and it could have resulted in a 100 pages on this....

Groin injuries are notoriously tricky. There are numerous muscles coming together in a small space, so it is difficult to diagnose the actual muscle, tendon, etc., injured. Because everything is jam packed down there, it is also harder to get the good blood flow needed to promote healing. And, pain is not a reliable indicator of whether further use will cause further damage. You might think you are healed, and can deal with the lingering discomfort, only to exacerbate the damage.

Tbh if we win today to have a fresh fit firing Ndombele for the 2nd half of the season could work out perfectly for us.
