Imo it’s stopping his anticipation and ability to get to the mall quickly

I don’t think he has a problem getting the mall quickly, which could be his problem.

In all seriousness tho, he does walk and run like Mr Soft. There were things written about him and his fitness levels at a young age, and also his concentration levels, and ability to perform in EVERY game. Hence why we didn’t go for him last year, iirc. I just hope the lad settles down, and puts the hrs in that are needed to make it to the very top for us.

Since he stepped on the field against Juventus in the preseason it’s clear that he's a massive talent, additionally since that game it's also been clear he's very out of shape. That needs to be fixed.

he came up limping after an early challenge tonight. I dont think he's fully recovered from his injury.

If you're referring to my comment, I'm a big fan of him and his potential for us. I'm not one to pounce on misplaced pass here and there but i'm really just trying to assess his game as i've only seen YT compilations. He's obviously very talented but so far his energy levels are very lacking and tbh for me that is the bare minimum.

I actually thought he showed some real glimpses of what he could do in the first half after a rusty opening 20 minutes.

Faded quickly approaching half time.

You can see what he's all about, but he does need to build that competitive match fitness.

Wasn't referring to your post, just feeling the build up of negative comments.

He didn´t have the right fitness level coming to us. Strangely it hasn´t improved much. It will take months before he can properly play a match the way we want him to.

I think there were too many expectations put on him to be our difference maker, when in fact he’s still only 22/23 and played 2 competitive starts for us.

No point sugar coating it though, he was crap tonight.

Lets call a spade a spade - the guy looks fat with a big ass booty that you can place your drink on while lighting up a cig

We bought him based on a decent season with Lyon and his performance v City in CL. Before this he was scratching about in the lower leagues in France due to attitude and application concerns

You know he’s 22 right? He played a full season for Amiens at 19 and helped get them promoted to Ligue 1, and was then a standout player for Lyon for two seasons before joining us. I know there were some concerns about his fitness as a youth player but it’s hardly like he was some lower league journeyman who had one good season.

I don't think it's quite like that. Yes, apparently he had problems with his weight a bit but he was just a chubby teenager at the time, puppyfat if you will.
His attitude hasn't been questioned, as far as I'm aware, only that he can tend to drift in and out of games against smaller teams.
But, he is very young and is clearly talented. Give him time to get fit and adjust and we'll have a talent on our hands. The fact that after rejection, he dropped down to work his way back up again should show that he has a strong enough mentality to succeed.

I honestly have no idea if he’s fit or not. I think whether fit or not he’s clearly not the easiest on the eye a bit like Yaya Toure. He just has a weird running style. Actually saw quite a detailed thing on twitter how he was an injury waiting to happen because of his running style. Hopefully that’s wrong but as said he can look awfully cumbersome. On the other hand you do see some great glimpses and he’s a really unique player. I’d find it weird if he wasn’t fit as he started our 1st game where as Lo Celso had been deemed not fit enough when he actually looks twice as fit as Ndombele. It scares me I have doubts but I can’t lie I do.

I don’t think he lacks match fitness it’s just that he needs to up his intensity and sharpness to what Poch demands. He has said himself that he was able to cruise some matches with Lyon. He’s arguably stepped up a level now and he needs to rise to the challenge.

It's essential that he's given time to develop and settle. Son, Lucas and a host of other players have taken several months and even a full season before we saw their true quality.

Some on here will never learn.

After Sissoko and his transformation, i thought they would

Give the kid a fucking chance, hes been here 5 minutes, needs to get fitter, but looks a huge talent.

Lo Celso's absence has all been injury related.

I can only rely on you guys regarding his quality, as other than your opinion and YouTube, I've never even seen him play.

He does have a style which comes across as a bit slow and as if general midfield play in terms of running is a bit of a chore. There was an instance first half where we switched the play and I watched him and his body language said to me "bloody hell I've got to make some ground up now to support play....and I can't be arsed". I might be talking utter bollocks of course, but that's what I thought.

I know he divided opinion, but every time I watch us, I miss Dembele. Absolute pure quality and totally unique in the way he played.
