They’re both midfielders? Following Tottenham I’ve seen Hoddle, Ardiles, Gascoigne, Modric, world class midfield players. I sincerely hope that Ndombele grows to that stature but at the moment he’s nowhere near.

All legends and one of a kind. Let's hope Ndombele finds his path to that stature of player. He's got some unique skills, that's for sure.

Curious though, why you left out one of our other legendary midfielders, a player who was so good he even won euro 96. Our very own European legend - Steffen Freund ?

Random thought; but with our usual corner takers being 6ft+ and capable of scoring with their heads - Son, Lamela (at Roma...), Bale (when he’s into it properly) - I hope to see Jose experiment with Ndomballer taking up those duties instead to maximise our aerial threat. Granted, players with excellent passing abilities in the open play can’t always translate this to the set piece arena... Eriksen comes to mind.

Reguillón looks like he can place a ball well too for a left footed option who isn’t particularly big either. Admittedly, I don’t know much about his aerial ability in the opponent’s box and he could be another Lucas in which case you’d want him in and around the box.

Basically, I just want us to score some set piece goals instead of conceding them!

Long Fred so apols if already covered but it is a couple of off piste things I have enjoyed from our moody Frenchman.
1st was the little skip in one game (Everton?) it didnt make him space but he didnt lose the ball either and I could never imagine the Winkokos doing anything similar.
2nd was getting the ball in m/f and a Manure player bouncing off him. Dembele-esque
as a footnote and admiring the work of Moose the only player I saw put him down was Pogba.

I read in Sundays paper that the players when training have been stopping to applaud the things Tanguy were doing as it was so mesmerising . I am getting myself so hyped up for this season but its agony that I can't go to the stadium to watch the matches.
This covid thing had not really bothered me that much but now we are starting to look like a team that can do something it is doing my head in . I know its quite childish but thats how I feel COYS

I went to have a look for it, but apparently News of the World stopped publishing in 2011....

I find the term "natural talent" irritating because it usually undersells the huge amount of work and dedication players put into developing their skills and ability. But when I watch Ndombele and the way he uses his body, and his situational awareness, I wonder how much of that can be coached.

the most shit has been spoken in this particular thread since he joined us

he was no worse than anyone else the last time we played at Burnley

he’s a kid who lost his fitness and confidence mainly due to injuries and ibeing left out

it really doesn’t matter who wants to give or take credit for his recent upswing

let’s just hope he stays injury free and gets sharper, Gio too

the ball will be sailing over their heads a lot later this evening though, not gonna be one for the purists

I'd really like to commend Tanguy for the effort and application so far this season when called upon.

There was never a doubt of his potential, but I did question whether he would be able to cut it here.

I love being proved wrong sometimes.
