How much have clubs in South America and Africa increased their spending on transfers in that period? The top leagues buy the best players from them, not just from each other.

I don't have the details for South America.

But look at it like this. Levy buys Lamela in 2013 for 25 mill and let's say he sells him last summer for 50 million Great Levy has made 25 million. But in reality, we have to replace Lamela and you aren't going to be able to go back to a top league (he came from Roma) and buy 2 Lamela quality players for your money. You get one for the same money, hence we paid around 50 million for Lo Celso, who was less decorated. But I think you already know that's what I'm saying.

The only way I accept losing Ndombele is if we sign Sabitzer - if we don't, Levy better be ready for a really strongly worded letter from yours truly

I don’t remember @joey55 attracting this much ire in SC’s heyday.

He’s like SC’s Mourinho, a relic who just isn’t at ease with the more impatient, less considered mindset of the modern forum poster.

From the ITK. I couldn't understand if we'd had a bid for Ndombele and it wasn't anywhere close to what we want or it was more a of suggestion that we wouldn't accept a price of such

Sounded to me like there's been a bid

It will most likely be a ridiculously low bid, safe in the knowledge Levy will start ridiculously high, and we'll then spend forever haggling around to get to the middle ground, if at all.

We just need Double Pivot back now who conspired against me and thought I was a secret Arsenal fan on here.

One of the things that struck me in that video was Carragher highlighting how Ndombele was 'hiding'. He wasn't getting away from opposition players like most would in order to receive the ball. Ndombele then receives the ball, pretty much surrounded by opposition players, and beats the lot of them in a space the size of a phone box. That is a devastating skill to have, and one which takes multiple opponents out of the game in a split second.

It is a devastating skill to have. There are no arguments there. I think that’s why he has been so frustrating because he has the skill to do things very few players can do and it can positively impact the flow of the game.

The dream would be ndombele staying and shutting everyone up by earning Mourinho’s trust an improving fitness/application or whatever. But, should he leave, we’ll never know the exact circumstances which will lead to a bunch of “what if’s”. For me, it’s imperative Mourinho is backed. If that means swapping ndombele for skriniar, then we get a top class center back for a midfielder, who although COULD be a world beater, had minimal and maybe even a negative impact on the squad this season. That would leave me feeling content, even if ndombele goes on to be great elsewhere.

One of Marcelo Brozovic, Milan Skriniar and Lautaro Martinez could be sold in order to enable Inter to fund a big signing according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante is at the top of Inter manager Antonio Conte’s wishlist and Tottenham Hotspur’s Tanguy Ndombele is also included on his wishlist.

The report from the Milan based news outlet states that signing Ndombele would in fact be easier for two reasons. The first is that the Frenchman has failed to convince whilst in London and the second reason is that Spurs boss Jose Mourinho has declared an interest in signing Skriniar.

If they want N'dombele and our most pressing needs are a strike partner for Kane and RB why out of the three would we be more interested in Skriniar than Lautaro Martinez? unless he is lined up by one of the big boys in Spain but it seems they have serious wage issues at the moment?

Why would Lautaro Martinez come here to be a back up to Kane? That sounds like it'd be a senseless decision from his part.
