The point is this and some are missing it.

Did he play terribly? Not particularly.

But i'm sure most of this forum would agree that he may be our most naturally gifted footballer and so by his standards he was playing well within himself. If you have that much talent, then you have a responsibility to the rest of the team, especially in this difficult situation, to start grabbing games by the scruff of the neck and he hasn't been doing that of late. Not since the Norwich match. He's paid a fortune to give 100% and he isn't.

Just compare him to Giovani Lo Celso and therein lies the problem. Similar levels of talent but worlds apart in application at this moment it has to be said.

The difficulty with this approach is that I can see this possibly brewing into a situation that becomes not too dissimilar to the Mourinho / Pogba type scenario, where he digs out a player with a big price tag who he knows is capable of and has the potential to do so much more, we all know that this didn’t end well.

The problem for us is that we cannot carry this type of luxury and significant outlay in the same way Man Utd can. The media are going to jump on this and I fear they will amplify this into a full blown split because they love to have a storm that has Mourinho at the centre of it. They will create stories that there has been an irretrievable breakdown in Mourinho and Ndombele’s relationship and they will hype up this toxicity, and they will revel in doing it.

As I said unlike Man Utd we cannot simply afford to write off such an expensive outlay, Levy being Levy will set a ridiculous price that no one will be prepared to pay and it will leave us hamstrung in buying much needed replacements that we need as Levy will say we haven’t got the funds to deal until we shift assets off the books. By not being played his stock and value will fall further and Levy will still demand upwards of a profit of 25-50% more than we paid for him, and this in turn will provide Levy and ENIC with a ready made excuse to not spend what is required to give the squad the major overhaul it so desperately needs.

Quotes from during the week. No coverage obviously.

Mourinho also says Tottenham’s numerous injuries have been “abnormal”, while results have been “unfair”. Regardless, he believes a better Tottenham will come.

“You see the matches we lost recently, and you see the margins; it was 1-0, 2-1, 3-2, then 1-1 and penalties,” he said. “Everything was small margins.

“We will turn - I believe in the boys.”

It’s terrible timing as he didn’t have particularly bad first half. He was one of the few moving the ball quickly and forward. I also don’t believe that he is unfit or fat, if that was the case then that’s Mourinho’s fault for starting him and leaving him out to dry. I don’t think that this is being handled well at all. There are bigger problems in this team than NDombele. Like I have said before everyone is playing below par bar Lo Celso. I believe that we need Sissoko back to see the best of him.

My mindset has completely changed with him. It's gone from being concerned about his ability to fit in and get used to life here at Spurs to not caring and just simply thinking he should do better. I don't mind players struggling, hell, Dele pisses me off more than anyone at Spurs has but take yesterday for example and he was working hard and trying at least. Ndombele looks like he doesn't give a fuck, can understand why Jose would be so frustrated with the player.

In terms of performance, I will only judge him fully when we're playing any bit good as a team but his attitude and body language on the pitch looks terrible. I've gone from wanting to see him start every game to not caring if he's sat on the bench now. I'd go as far as saying I'd rather see Sissoko out there than him, at least he'll work as hard as he can and put a shift in.

He does half a job. He doesn’t tackle, he barely tracks back, he’s half-hearted when it comes to defensive play. Fuck all this sympathy for Ndombele. My sympathies are with Skipp; gets paid a fraction of what Ndombele does, but always gives his all for the team.

I would be actively looking to sell right now if I was Levy. I don’t think he can be fixed, his attitude and demeanour have been a disgrace since day one & it’s actually got worse

No manager can win with anything he says. If JM said 'N'dombele is ready, he is fit and showing his ability' and went onto gushing praise etc, there would be 'fans' calling him out for talking bollocks. So he is reasonable in his view and gets lambasted for.that too.

JM hasn't said anything, in my view, that isn't accurate about the club or this player in particular.

He wasnt even that critical. The way the press work in this country is by playing on the British negative mindset. An example.would be the headline from the fairly moderate bbc, "JM slates Tottenham's record signing".

What he actually said was:
"But a player with his potential has to give us more than he is giving us, especially when you see how Lucas, Lo Celso and those players are playing. I was expecting more in the first half from him."

It is hardly 'slating' him. Its a constructive view and his way if telling the fans, Tanguy has loads potential but isnt realising it, at the moment, but probably should be.

Who disagrees with JM? Honestly? Having seen TN play live I can say he is so naturally talented it's scary. Must do better though and JM is spot on.

And you’re saying this as someone who openly doesn’t want Jose as our gaffer.

Take not people, it’s possible to have a view about one thing but still offer balanced opinion about other things.

Not me mate. That might be Hoddle & Waddle.

I was excited by his appointment and voted yay baby, trophies are coming. I still do, judging him with this season and crop of players is crazy.
