I added a more to it and it was about the psychological aspect and maybe being mentally fit as well as being physically fit.
It's fine lines. I read that into it originally and I think others have too.

Ah I see yeah that makes what you're saying clearer, similar to how Poch said Winks needed to accept he'd always have pain in his ankle.

Not sure if that case but yes it's possible.
Also NDombele twists and turns changes direction with the ball but has a hard time running back without it

Just to clear up ......I just watched the Chelsea Presser. Mourinho wasnt sarcastic with his comments. My original comment was based on what and the way he talked in an earlier presser about NDombele. Mourinho looked serious about him.

I call bulls**t regarding that podcast then. We don't know how he's been instructed to warm up, if it's just someone seeing something because they're looking for it etc.

The more I hear about this Athletic the less I think of it. It was supposed to be a top class piece of journalism yet it continues to fall into sniggery, gossipy tabloid junk. Ask yourself this. If you'd read that in The Sun, what would your response have been?

Call bullshit all you like. They didn’t say they knew anything, they were making an observation - three football journos who were in the media area above where they were warming up, two of whom are Spurs fans.

The Athletic is really good. I read it every day and listen to several of their podcasts regularly, I’m very impressed with their coverage and have a good handle on their take. Comparing it to The Sun is just comical. Don’t get arsey about it just because you don’t like what they said, sounds like you’ve never read it so what would you know?

Ask yourself this: if they’d been complimentary about his fitness and workout regime, what would your response have been?

He played I think 70 minutes a game for Lyon constantly I believe, its not the same league but still does this all make sense. It seems to me that NDombele puts all his efforts into attacking. He doesn't seem to want to engage on the defensive side. It cant be any kind of fear, not the way he dribbles. He is a bit of an enigma and yet he is a figure actually with presence in midfield. He is always making himself available for a pass, always looks for space and looks to develop the play. Really I find it all baffling and beyond his fitness. I almost want him to just help us score more goals than the other team and use that as the bellweather mark rather than look for an all round game.
I watch him,he rarely tackles, but he constantly dribbles and passes in a flash,he huffs and puffs coming back but with the ball is like a lightening rod. Never seen this before in my life

His jog is a shuffle, his run is a walk for others. The guy can’t be arsed to put one leg in front of the other and move them unless he has the ball at his toes.

I watched him a lot at Lyon a long while before we bought him and I was skeptical because he was alternatively brilliant and clumsy and his work ethic was usually poor.

On his day he is magical but he can be lethargic as well and he never ever tracks back unless he loses the ball while being fouled. Then it’s a personal thing to get it back.

Remains to be seen if Mourinho and his team can turn that mentality around. He is a real talent but at the moment we’ve burned up a lot of his contract time with little reward.

With things like this Flash it's a gamble.
Cheap if we win
Expensive mistake if we lose
They have to figure then what makes him tick

His injuries have all been groin and hip, the two are linked and lead me to believe he's either got a joint issue or a sports hernia. Both of which would definitely affect him and keep him from playing regularly.
Wouldn’t be surprised if he has ‘a joint issue’ as he has a very unusual way of moving particularly when he is turning. It is what makes him so difficult to knock of the ball for opposition players.

It’s very much up its own arse. Don’t get me wrong, some good stuff in there but it’s the same issue amongst modern sportswriters.
Too many opinions and answers, when they simply don’t have the credentials to be really offering any.

I'm sure there are many on this forum who have a 'joint issue'!

The thing is. Would you ask VDV to do what Tanguy is expected to do as DM or Bale or Ginola? The man has been typecast as the wrong type of player because he used to play RB and DM! He needs to be unleashed and a team built around him and Gio! He has fitness issues but we should play him for his on the ball strenght!

Eh? He still needs to be able to run, press and tackle though.

Im a subscriber and I slightly side with you on it. Most of the articles have a negative slant or are glass half full about every team they write about, I find it quite grating. I guess that’s an editorial issue but it needs changing. The articles just aren’t very positive for all teams, not just us.

It's small details. Against RB when he wasnt directly involved he would be walking whereas Winks when be on his toes jogging. Stupid as it sounds going from a walk to a fast jog or sprint is a lot harder...

But when he has the ball he really does drive past players. A few times he could have played the simple ball back but with a twist and drop of the shoulder he beat the opponent and played a forward pass. We badly need that

Immensely talented, but a total pussy.

Needs to toughen up if he wants to succeed in the PL. It’s as simple as that.

Pisses me right off that it is now twice this season against this lot that no player has been arsed to put a shift in.
