Lo Celso is a 100% starter? For you or for Mourinho?

But fully fit and in great form, didn’t start the last game.:cautious:

We’re used to only minimal rotation from Poch

- We have a massive game coming up
- GLC is just coming back from injury
- Mou probably assumed we could beat Villa without him starting

I reckon Mou 100% sees GLC as a starter. It can’t only be us that sees him as one of our most important players. He’s even great defensively

I think Jose knew he needed to rotate players ahead of two bigger games. I expect the likes of Tanganga, Gedson, and Lo Celso to come into the starting line up in mid-week.

His fitness is immensely frustrating and inexcusable but he's played well in almost every appearance. "Bit of a disaster" is slightly overzealous.

One mans ceiling is another mans floor and one person sees rubbish someone else sees something useful .
When I watch Dele I see a committed whole hearted player sometimes capable of brilliance and from my standpoint I don't get the ante Dele people and when Kane is back he will be more affective as he won't be a go to player .The pressure to produce will be lessened and he will thrive on that as at the moment he is targeted by the opposition .

Just about agree, but although "disaster" is too strong a word right now, we're currently on the road towards one with what we've had for our money from Ndombele so far. It's up to him and the club to make sure we don't get to that point, and excuses won't cut the mustard if we do. He simply needs to get up to standard in his physical/mental conditioning sooner rather than later.

Then he can’t start. We aren’t in a position to carry a luxury player.

Well, not in the centre of midfield. Maybe further up the pitch. I don’t think he is the central midfielder we all expected when he came and if that truly is the player he should be then he is miles off the level he needs to play. I’ve not seen anything that makes me think he is a “dembele replacement”, he’s closer to eriksen than dembele.

I agree totally. I just was surprised he didn’t start on Sunday.

I guess he could be rotating, but that actually isn’t a trademark of Mourinho’s management style. If you look at history, he has won championships with the fewest number of used players per season.

It was only at Man Utd where he rotated a LOT more. Mainly due to injuries and general problems within the squad.

You're right but he can play as a central midfielder - it's just that he needs a hard working DM alongside to get the best out of him IMO. Tousart performed that role when he was at Lyon, allowing Ndombele to do his thing: beating the press and turning defence into attack with his quick, incisive passing. Problem is we don't have a proper DM so as you say he's probably better deployed further up the pitch in an Eriksen-type position or alternatively in a 3 man central midfield.

I just want to see one game of him, Winks & Lo Celso starting. We are absolutely horrendous at just keeping the ball right now. We've conceded more possession to Villa & Southampton 2x in the last 2 weeks.

God....I hope he comes good just because of the amount we spent on him.

He clearly has a quality on the ball that nobody else in the squad has. A natural quality that he's very lucky to have.

But why should he start for us in a huge champions league game? He was absolutely terrible against the mighty Southampton press. What makes anybody think he will be our key man against far better opposition and a far better press? He'll be done after 30 minutes because you can't go from his obvious lack of fitness 2 weeks ago to running the show.

Its about the team, not him. I so want him to get fit for the team because we'll be better with him in it. But I've seen nothing that makes think he should be getting picked

He clearly has ability.

Regardless of ability and experience there will always be an integration period to new signings. So I don't mind Ndombele's performances as much as some, for now.

I agree that he probably shouldn't start against Leipzig, or most teams for that matter. I prefer him coming on for the last 30 minutes when the opposition are tiring.

But he is going to need to sort his fitness out by next season and Jose needs to put a team together that brings out the best of our players. His ability alone isn't going to make him a success.

Because that’s our game plan now...
