A lot of it is down to mentality, though. In his early years here Bale used to struggle every time he’d get a knock, and would be fussing about it the rest of the game. Then once he hit his top form he wouldn’t worry about the injuries as much.

I do think a lot of his injuries at Madrid are because he tried to over train to keep up with Ronaldo and then nowadays he’s in a bit of a negative state of mind.

tbh it was Harry who called him out on it, I’m sure he told the docs not to go on whenever bale was milking a challenge

Agreed.

We've spent top-dollar on world class training facilities.

We should be able to get our players up to speed with their stamina.

During the season, most of the time is spent rehabilitating rather than fitness building. Players fatigue as the season goes on - we usually look spent around April time. So it's more difficult than first glance to get a player upto preseason standards.

I don't see him getting full 90 min fit this season.

Is his so called poor conditioning a bit of a red herring and being conveniently used for not playing him?. Only asking

My eyes tell me no but you never really ever can be sure what is going on behind closed doors.

The guy is amazing on the ball but looks unfit. He seems the type of player even when fit who would play well with good players but bad with average players. He is a icing on the cake player but we are still building the cake.

I think he has a huge future, his passing is a different level and he will open up even the best defences. We need to get him fit and we also need a DM with a powerful running engine to get the best out of him. Having Lo Celso and Winks will help for now.

I used to think that with Bale. Whenever he got clattered he'd be fine almost straight away. Then he left and the injuries came flooding in. Now he just plays golf.

Haha this made me laugh. Let's not jinx our star striker now on the Bale trajectory of injuries. Now if he moves to Madrid for 150 mil plus and starts getting injured. Then that's fine for us ?.

He also told Bale to stop worrying about that awful haircut he used to have. Every time he went down he spent ages carefully tidying up his fringe.

I think Ndombele will be restricted to super sub cameos this season, and needs a really good pre-season to get properly match fit. Against teams who park the bus he will be a real asset in unpicking the lock, but that said - with Jose-ball not many teams will park the bus as we will have already parked ours!

He was self-conscious about his prominent ears. Amazing how his form took off after he had them pinned back.

I think for now when he plays he has to play in a role higher up the pitch. His lack of ability to run off the ball is an issue but his ability with the ball and to unlock a defence with a pass is a huge asset. With winks and Lo Celso in the midfield behind him ndombele should have less long running/tracking to do and can instead focus on short sharp pressing off the ball.

So many crazy views accepting his apparent lack of fitness and perhaps more alarmingly making excuses for his suggested laziness. Unfortunately you just can't carry passengers you have to defend from the front and having a player who either sees defending as an unfortunate hinderance or is just not physically capable leaves you with holes all over the pitch,

He has some ability but until he is either capable or wants to be part of the side he is going to struggle and being part of a side means working for the team and he certainly wasn't doing that the other night either on or the off the ball

He came back from injury.

Once he plays back to back games his fitness will further improve.

Mourinho wants his no10's to track back ad defend so at the moment he wouldn't be much use higher up the pitch tbh
