that window turns out to be a disaster. Ndombele, GLC, Sessegnon
£135M in combined fees for the three (using Transfermarkt-numbers). Ndombele and his close to £70M in wages, plus Sess and GLC wages on top of that. Some of it covered by loans. But a total outpouring of somewhere at around £200-250 million pounds. It´s just a mindboggling and -blowing amount of money. Even more insane is that the club won´t get a single penny back from it, nor any happy memories for the fans.

I'm not sure how accurate the figures really are. I doubt they're as high as expected. He must have appearance bonuses in there. There must be some part wages or fee for the loans as well. No doubt it will still be high but not as high as suggested I don't think.

Agree. And in fairness maybe Poch could have gotten more out of Ndombele but we’ll never know.

If you are player with personal issues and the coach who wanted you to move country to join the club is sacked within months, then a new coach with a completely different way of playing and history of falling out with players joins, then covid hits, and then that coach is sacked… well you get the idea.

I’m not defending Ndombele by any means, things may have worked out the same regardless, but the context is still worth noting.
Return loan @ Lyon
Loan @ Napoli
Loan @ Galatasaray

The story stays the same. That should be more than enough context for anyone.

Nonsense!

2021 - Lukaku resigns for Chelsea in a club record fee of £97.5mill. Goes onto score 8 goals in 26 games before being loaned out to the world and their wife. Still on the books as we speak.

£12.2 mill a goal! Definitely a waste of space if you're a Chelsea fan.
Hmm. He still managed to score 21 goals this season in Serie A.

It's quite amusing how many of us were saying "Just flog him to a Turkish team" Thinking that was our best hope.

Turns out even the league renown for taking on 'lazy' players is totally off him.

He'll be lucky to get a second division French team atm

Lukaku is almost universally in every EPL 'worst signing' list. Yet because you say otherwise i'm supposed to bow-down to your superior knowledge? Thank heavens you're not DoF.

I'll shop around a little more before I outlay £12.2mill per goal.

Looks like a classic case of agree, to disagree. As you were.
But at least Lukaku has done well pretty much everywhere other than Chelsea, Ndom has been shit everywhere he's been.
It was a poor signing for Chelsea but there's much more behind it than simply Lukaku being a poor player, because he isn't really.

There's no need to get shitty because someone doesn't agree with you.
Lukaku was a poor signing for Chelsea, yes but Ndombele has become the player that nobody wants.
He's more of a Winston Bogarde.

Nobody in Saudi will want him, he's a nobody.

edit: We should pay him off just to get him out of the club.

I know which of the 2 is likely to play for their national team in a month’s time also……
I think that pretty much everyone (apart from one person) agrees that Chelsea spending 100m on Lukaku and him hating being there, is more a reflection on that shitty club than it is the quality of the player.
It's not the first time they've done it and it won't be the last.

He's in no way, shape or form, comparable to Ndombele.

He was also played all wrong. Long punts upfield to a 5 foot nothing player. Who was dynamite with the ball at his feet. He was wasted at tottenham at the time. Although he was also competing with sir les and sheringham if memory serves?

And in a team with freund, Sherwood and the best of all. Doherty.
I remember Sheringham and others clapping him during a pre match warm up at the lane after he smashed a volley into the net from 20 yards.
Yet another wasted talent.
