I still believe that all that was noted to Poch but he was adamant that that was his guy and we had to back him after not doing so properly whilst the stadium was being built.

Think Poch believed he could get it out of him

Agree. And in fairness maybe Poch could have gotten more out of Ndombele but we’ll never know.

If you are player with personal issues and the coach who wanted you to move country to join the club is sacked within months, then a new coach with a completely different way of playing and history of falling out with players joins, then covid hits, and then that coach is sacked… well you get the idea.

I’m not defending Ndombele by any means, things may have worked out the same regardless, but the context is still worth noting.

I don't know if it's just my phone or a problem with the site but virtually every post or rating I make is followed by a long delay which causes all kinds of glitches.

Yeah, for the first time since pretty much my uni days or extra heavy transfer deadline days years ago, SC seems to be working as well as Ndombele at the mo. 🤷🏼‍♂️😬

He's definitely in the same boat as Lukaku, Andy Carroll, Pepe, Rodwell, etc.

Personally feel the worst signing in recent memory is/was Danny Drinkwater. Sounds like a s*it man too!
Odd to include Lukaku in the same category as Ndombele. He joined Chelsea at the age of 18 and has played in top class football since then, making 538 appearances and scoring 260 goals. Hardly a waste of space.

Nonsense!

2021 - Lukaku resigns for Chelsea in a club record fee of £97.5mill. Goes onto score 8 goals in 26 games before being loaned out to the world and their wife. Still on the books as we speak.

£12.2 mill a goal! Definitely a waste of space if you're a Chelsea fan.

One season of poor returns v 5 seasons of absolutely nothing doesn't compare.

Classic example of a club not doing sufficient diligence on a player to find out more about their personality etc before signing them. With Ange's demands that a player wants to play for us, looking at their attitudes and how they will fit into his system, there's no way this will happen again whilst he is in charge.

How would buying clubs assess a player’s personality without conducting psychometric and personality tests?

Lukaku is almost universally in every EPL 'worst signing' list. Yet because you say otherwise i'm supposed to bow-down to your superior knowledge? Thank heavens you're not DoF.

I'll shop around a little more before I outlay £12.2mill per goal.

Looks like a classic case of agree, to disagree. As you were.

Because he's had the same attitude and weight problems before he joined us. Now I'm not saying a leopard can't change his spots. But he's not changed his spots.

A bad signing and he is probably our worst.

But they happen, as much as modern football tries it isn't an exact science, the people in charge at the time got it wrong and due to European football not having the money we havent been able to get any money back.

He will move on in the summer and do whatever and we must move on and not let past mistakes effect our ambition.

It wouldn't surprise me if he jacked it in next summer tbh. I don't think he's motivated by money much anymore either so I can't see him impressing a club enough to give him the sort of contract he'd want.
Yo forgot a word there, mate ;-)

Chelsea are getting about £8 million as a loan fee for Lukaku and all of his wages covered. We're literally paying clubs to take Ndombele. He'll go down as the new Bogarde in terms of a cultural reference point for the worst transfers ever. We've lost a lot more money than Chelsea even though he cost about 40 million less than Lukaku.
