Here is Aulas's full quote from GFFN:

On Tanguy Ndombele & an eventual offer from Tottenham:

In terms of the chronology, before accepting the transfer of Ferland Mendy to Madrid, we signed the young international U17 Belgian, Heritier Deyonge, from PSV Eindhoven. What I can say to you is if you see a very good box-to-box midfield youngster arrive, in the coming days, then there will be a chance that Tanguy Ndombele leaves, but for the moment, we have not received offers of the level that we feel is a just price.

There's your clue. He wants to sign Ndombele's replacement before accepting the offer, in the same way we signed loads of players before accepting the offer for GB. I think it's all been agreed, Aulas just wants the replacement in before it's finalised.

My favorite part in posting this quote is the way in which the first and second half of it have been specifically chosen by people on here to align with either their wildly optimistic or pessimistic perception of the status of this potential transfer.

I don’t know why, but I really didn’t expect Aulas to look like that.

I was a Police Officer for 30 years. I learned to follow the clues. It's really not complicated .... unless you're a real pessimist. Aulas specifically states that before letting one player go, he signed his replacement. Then he said "if you see a very good box-to-box midfield youngster arrive, in the coming days, then there will be a chance that Tanguy Ndombele leaves.".

It's what we have done in the past, they are doing the same. Seems obvious to me!

@JUSTINSIGNAL Please let me know what's creative there, just curious as it isn't normally one of my strengths!

I reckon that this one could actually happen! Would be a huge statement of intent. For me this is the moment. Possibly the only real opportunity we have had to establish ourselves among the elite since we last won the league!

To be fair, we were still amongst the elite for a few years after the double, it was about 1968 it started going wrong!

I just thought it was creative how you linked the clues together. Like everyone else, I'm clutching on to any straw going with transfer!

To be fair, I feel the same. Now, assuming (always dangerous) that Aulas is speaking the truth, my speculation is valid!

I live in hope! #COYS

[Di Marzio] : Pogba prefers a move to Juventus over Real Madrid right now.

We need to get this done soon I feel, cause as soon as Real can no longer get Pogba they will quickly move onto Ndombele and will be able to quickly wrap it up. We need to get a fee agreed and push Ndombele and his agent to join before Real come calling.

Unfortunately if theres any chance Real are interested, not a chance. You can't expect a player or agent to rush through a deal to join Tottenham to stop an approach from Real Madrid.
