Good to see Mourinho didn't just sulk because he didn't get his first choice. He can probably expect a lot more of that during his time here...
We could have already had his first choice last summer. But we kept pushing for the impossible transfer. Fucking image rights:mad:

He has lots of potential but at the very least he's a player that will always pop up with goals. Thats a good trait to have and one we lack outside our fringe players. Lamela, Lucas, Sissoko, Lo Celso - all good players but lack goals. When we are missing Son Kane or Alli its very obious that this is the case.

I mean, he obviously wanted a centre forward in Jan, but there was no value in the market as you saw with Barca overpaying for junk like Brathwaite.
While true it still feels like our player acquisition is all over the shop. Headed into a summer where all the noise suggests (very) limited funds i'm not confident in what the outcome may be.

Not that I wanted Brathwaite and sure am glad we landed Bergwijn.

The principles behind our player acquistion is to get players when you feel you can get them under market value. Bergwijn at £27m clearly fits that idea.

He looks an absolute bargain at 27 million. Quick, robust, hardworking and an eye for goal. Whoever pushed for his transfer did a very good job

Yep. It definitely felt like a club decision. We’d been scouting him for a year after all and decided to push the button then rather than the summer when there may have been more competition.

Was very impressed with the speed he showed on Friday too. I thought previously that he actually looked a little sluggish at times for someone who's considered a 'speed merchant'. Looked very sharp though and I think he's our most clever wide man when in forward positions, seems like he can be relied upon to pick out a good pass.

not skilful or particularly lightning however he has such a great brain and knows what to do with a football. A lot of people would prefer someone flashier and I still think there are players out there with better skills and pace that we could get. However nowadays being able to do the simple things well in this spurs team is rare!

I'd say a knock on this squad for a few seasons now is, outside of Eriksen (others may even debate that) that as a squad, we have lacked footballers with footballing intelligence ... All the skill and pace and power in the world, but when you can't hit a pass 10 yards or have the ability to open up a tightly packed back four or five you'll struggle ...

Intelligence on the ball along with technical ability and obviously an elite athletic skillset. All that and only 22; that’s good.

What's surprised me most about him is his passing - perfectly weighted every time. Terrific player.

Am I right in thinking it was him that played the pass to slip in Aurier for the cross that Kane couldn’t quite get to?

Excellent vision whoever it was.
