Probably the sensible decision. Sure we could have given him a new deal as a thank you but i think it would have been on slightly reduced terms so at least here he’ll get his current salary. He still has a lot to offer but we have to manage his minutes.
Again I love the time he has had with us but it’s a square peg in a round hole for Ange’s style of play.

We have 4 wingers between the age of 20 and 16 that have a lot of potential and, depending on how they are tracking, if Son is rotated properly and still performing, it might make more sense to extend Son's contract by another year and cash in on Johnson (if he doesn't develop) at the end of 2026.
Some good sense here. With so many youngsters with ‘potential’ in forward positions Son has to be an ideal mentor. Get one or two more experience forwards in and I think we will see Son being more sparingly used. But for his attitude, loyalty, enthusiasm, top level achievements and ability to handle pressure he has to be worth having around.

He's said before he's not interested in going to Saudi. I can see him wanting to go home for a season or two.
Cheers, I'd missed that.

Hard to see what he'd go home for, unless more personal. The K League, as a footballing option- cant see it. Coaching there maybe., perhaps even national team assistant or guiding the kids. Koreans are pretty patriotic folk, after all.

I went to a few FC Seoul games while living and working there. They only get more than 15-20 k when playing Suwon, their derby, or perhaps, for Asian Champs League games

A few have said K league but id also really doubt that.

Its rare that that happens when the league is so low profile and Son has no connection to any team over there in terms of his early career.

Unless he wants to do a tour of the country just getting adulation at all the stadiums then maybe, but the way he comes id sersiously doubt he'd care about that much.

Hope he see his career out at spurs then does his coaching badges with us (if he's interested).

All depends on how he sees his future I suppose and how he fits in at spurs playing wise ongoing.

We would be much stronger with him in the squad than without him. He will likely transition to a squad player - not many sides could boast such a good player coming on from the bench.

That's only because we know any replacements are likely to be shit. If any at that!

That’s just way to harsh on him, solid pro always tries his best he is shoehorned in are line up right now.

To me he looks done, sadly. Really struggles to affect a game and this system needs specialists in those forward areas.

Sad to admit but think he needs to be an impact player off the bench
Not for the rest of his career - but, yeah, he would do well with a week or two of being a sub, and coming in against tired legs.

We just don't have an alternative that Ange trusts right now.

Maybe when Moore (or Yang or Richarlison) build up fitness, we might see that.

Sonny will go down as a legendary great. Love him so much. Has given his all for nearly ten seasons. However, you can see he has lost a yard or two in pace, which is only natural. He has reached a stage where he should only play once a week for 70 or 80 mins. Whenever he plays more than that he looks like he is running in treacle. Hence, I feel a LW is needed now… not in the future. I guess that was supposed to be Odabert and/or Moore. Regardless, we need someone who can win that position outright, and in doing so will give Sonny a chance to be sharper/fitter, and therefore have a bigger impact in his twilight years with us.

Anyone think he looks really heavy at the moment? The same thing happened with Kane.

Harry was at his best physically when he was lean but he is now really bulky and can’t press at all. The same thing is happening with Sonny.

Looking back on Sonny’s best goals, he used to be much leaner and I wonder if it’s a specific approach from our fitness team.
