I feel sorry, and I feel sad, for him. But we've seen this Sonny before and then he's turned it around after injuries.

It's clear he is on the decline. And his most recent performances have been desperately disappointing but I do believe he can still offer something. If he finds form we know he can be electric, and the one crumb of hope I still have is that he still is getting opportunities to score.

It hurt when Kane left, absolutely. But I'm going to be more sad when Sonny eventually goes.

It’s been pretty clear for a while his legs are going. It’s the explosiveness you notice first.

He wasn’t even suited to a touchline wide role at his best, let alone now.

We need to let him go this summer and sign a marquee LW.

I bet we stays another year and we keep odobert and Moore take over lw.

Of course we will keep him another year. We don’t know how to accept when a player is done and needs moving on because we will let nostalgia get in the way and won’t want to spend big on a top quality replacement.

He's been stinking up the gaff with these limp performances for a long time now and we need to have the serious sit down with his future here.

A fantastic servant and player for us - of which there is no doubt - but what he's currently offering is utterly sub standard and likewise his Captaincy and leadership is under the spotlight.

When he does eventually hang his boots up, I sincerely hope he's brought in for some form of ambassadorial role but relying on him currently as functioning player for side with aspirations is dwindling before our eyes.

I’ll never say a bad word about him.

In fact I blame Spurs and South Korea for wearing him down to the bone by having him play excessively. He plays 90 for Korea every single game. As for Spurs when your only competition is Timo Werner you’re bound to play more than not

It's not about saying a bad word, the guy is a Spurs legend, but he's really not to up to the task in front of him right now. It happens to every player at some point, just a shame for Son it's happening right now.

He could still be a very useful squad player for the rest of the season though.

I said it after the Chelsea match but it feels like he's refusing to accept that his body can't do what it could a couple of seasons ago. Kane adjusted his game as he got older and seemingly got even better as an all-round player but Sonny's performances are just a constant string of bad touches, bad passes, failed take-on attempts, etc.

I get the feeling he's staying on the pitch because there are very occasional (more and more occasional) moments of magic that could change a match, like that saved curling shot against City. I'd say it's down to the injury crisis as well but I'm sure he'd still be playing as much, or nearly as much, if everyone was fit.

Really don't understand why Ange didn't make his fifth sub and take Son off with ten to go, either moving Madders to the left and putting Lankshear upfront or throwing Williams-Barnett on. Even if they are inexperienced they would have added much needed energy and they would have gained some experience and Son some rest.

Felt a lot like the Vertoghen moment last night. Legs are just not what they were. He has been such a legend for us but it feels like it is coming to an end. I only wish we could have given him some trophies. Players that rely on explosive speed drop at some point in their 30’s, it just happens and there is nothing you can do about it.

Ange doesn't have the gravitas now to do that to the club captain. He will only take him off when he absolutely has to. He's played full game in 3 of last 4 despite being piss poor. Accept we have little to back up but he can't start subbing off club captain and someone who is so important in dressing room / club when he is fighting to keep his job.

No chance for me, Harry was one of our own, that's once-in-a-lifetime stuff, and left us as one of the best players in the world in his prime, when Sonny leaves he will be on a natural decline, won't sting nowhere near as much

He was pretty appalling in Conte's last season.

I think we put that down to him playing in a really ill suited role where he was dropping to collect the ball rather than just focusing on running in behind.

He started off with a bang under Ange but most of last season he was up and down but still pretty lethal when in on goal.

He's gone back to the left but is now showing he's lost some of that explosiveness.

I think if the system could tailor him to play off Solanke, we may see him focus on the thing he may still be good at - getting in behind and finishing.

Unfortunately this isn't how Ange plays but also, it probably is a limited system as you need to pull the opposition out a bit.

It's clear as day we need another better option out there now.

Been a fantastic servant for the club but his time here is drawing to a close. Perhaps one last big payday in Saudi would suit him ?

Of course Harry was different but Sonny has given his all to the club, and has never angled for a move away for two summers like Kane did. And that to me is the difference.

This is because he isn't half the player Kane is in terms of all round game. Sonny had incredible pace, anticipation and still has world class finishing with both feet. He's lacking in physical strength too which you really need if you slow your game down. I think it'll be hard to really adapt in the same way players like Kane and Rooney could.

I love him to bits still. I'm desperate to see him go out with a bang for us.
