Not been the same since Harry left let’s be honest ! And now he’s in the twilight of his professional career. He’s still got that ability to contribute in certain games but I think next year will probably be his last at spurs

He shouldn't be starting at the moment, let's be honest. He's become untouchable but he offers very little in the majority of games and is a passenger far too often.

Yep, that's becoming painfully obvious. Some on here don't like to hear it, and I understand the love for him - absolute legend of the club - but he should not be as untouchable as he has.

He also seems to have been made captain on sentiment, which is such a tragically spurs thing to do.

To be fair we're at the point right now where it's him or nobody though, Werner was unlikely to be ready for a full 90 and he was the only other winger available.

I got pelters for saying this before but I maintain we are a better balanced team when Werner plays on the left.

Son will more likely come up with a goal or 2 which is more than Werner would, however we attack and look better balanced and play better as a team with Werner.

Son should be a sub in my opinion to come on late in games against tired legs.

We’d be foolish to go into next season with him., He’s far too ineffective these days

Legend, but it is undeniable his best days are behind him, and never was captain material, we need a captain to be a leader, Sonny has gone far too under the radar especially in big games, and has spells where he can barely pass

Crazy thing to say about a guy who has 31 non-penalty goal involvements since start of the last season(only Palmer, Salah, Haaland and Watkins has more), still contributes against biggest teams and is becoming even more creative than ever

Werner showed that that RB could be got at and sadly Son spent most of his time too reluctant to take him on. That’s just an attitude issue as he still had enough pace and skill to toast that RB but choose the ultra safe option or played poor balls. It was odd to leave him on when Werner came on as he’d been ineffective and would have been better to get Madds out there.

He's nearly done and we have 3 players who play in his position and none currently are even close to his level. Our strategy is beyond stupid

I think people have such high expectations for him given his high contributions. I think he contributed well yesterday and it's not his fault when others couldn't finished the chances he created, especially in the first half. He and Solanke were the most threatening. Between all the available options, he is still the best and most productive player so people should temper their expectations as the whole team has been inconsistent the entire season.

He is a club legend and for a few seasons with us was genuinely world class and would have gotten into any team in the world.
I know supposedly we will extend his contract to end of next season but because of his service I think he deserves better than that. Next season he will obviously be a year older and will be less productive than he is now. He's turning into a moments player which is understandable given his age. Would hate to see him be a rotation option for us next season given all he's done for the club. I would let him leave and go to a club of his choosing and where he will be a guaranteed starter. Obviously having him on our bench is a great option but loyalty works both ways and I really hope we do the right thing by him.

He still has a role.

Minding agree with him being an automatic starter now but if we continue with a 433 he can contribute loads still .

With the intensity that I believe that both the midfield 3 and front 3 should be on permanent rotation with all options being of a similar quality. I suspect the club think giving Sonny an extra year let’s Mikey Moore develop and that’s fine but we need another quality option there. As both Moore and Odabert are so young and Brennan isn’t always effective.

I'm hoping his days as a regular starter are coming to an end - he should be used off the bench from now on. Club legend obviously but he just isn't capable of the level required anymore.

This!

He offered twice as much as Johnson yesterday. Actually wanted the ball, took their players on (maybe less than ideally) and tried to make something happen and had several moments of real quality.

Definitely faded at the end of the game but he wasn't the worst by a long shot.

People are going overboard with the criticisms, he’s clearly not quite fit yet. He showed against West Ham, and Villa how effective he is.

Unfortunately the squad was down to the bare bones and he had to play Thursday and Sunday despite not being quite fit. Of course he isn’t going to look at his best.

Makes it glaringly obvious we needed better in the window. If we'd gone for Neto stronger and earlier it could have been the differentiator.
