Very encouraging to him doing his trademark cut inside and shoot again as he was doing in preseason. Missed that badly at times last season.

Just popping in to check if it’s still general opinion that Son’s too old, too slow, can’t play central and needs to be benched?

He was quite poor for long periods last season after a good start. He had a good game yesterday but you can't just ignore the above either

We were quite poor as a team for long periods last season. Son was still our top scorer and arguably player of the season.

I dont think ive ever wanted a player to play well and be successful more than I do Son now as our captain.

Football just seems a happier place when he's smiling and scoring.

We were poor as a team for long periods. No denying that at all. For me though, I found his overall play was quite poor by his standards. Hopefully he'll play more from the left wing position this season.

I think the point is that if we were judging our squad based on the second half of last season all bar one or two were poor, so saying that about Son isnt really saying much.

He's 32 so I dont expect him to be the player he was 4/5 years ago but he can certainly make a significant contribution to the season.

I think it's been widely forgotten that Sonny had a very grim last season with Conte. Out there on wing he was ineffective. People were wondering about this future.

Then , early last season he went to centre forward and proceeded to prove doubters wrong as he scored loads of goals. Who'd have thunk it it..Sonny so effective as CF ?

Then he went thru a barren period at CF and now he's back on the wing again, hope it works out for him.

Son drives me mad sometimes. 95th minute and Brennan is running through. The whole stadium knows he is going to whip it across the 6 yard box and Son in running through primed to get to it with no other spurs players around, so what does he do? Drop back to the edge of the box. Absolutely infuriating.

IMO - the weak link who’s actually not fit for this style of play. Hot take and one that I myself don’t want to agree with but logic is proving otherwise.

This is my main complaint with Son as CF. He doesn't want to crash in between the CBs and goalie and get on the end of those crosses; he seems to much prefer to pull back to the penalty spot where he can find some space to shoot.
