But you need to replace goals with goals ... Where will you find a player who can score guaranteed 15+ goals in every season and who can score almost all types of goals? It's very difficult to find..

If we had Pulisic or Werner on the bench, I would sell him though
I don't deny that replacing a player of Son's quality is difficult, much like his goals.

Bergwijn has 3 in 9 for us so far. If he can continue that amount of goals and we buy players to get us functioning as a team again we can come back strongly.

Sorry but I don’t agree at all. He’s a young player and obviously I hope he’ll come good but he hasn’t shown enough yet to make me think he could even be half as important to us as Son is at his best.

Not what I said at all.

I said Bergwijn can provide goals and we can spend money on other players to make us a team again.

A goal and an assist today take Son into a 10 goals and 10 assists Premier League season.
Also make him the 20th most played player in our Premier League history,
and the 5th highest goal scorer behind Kane, Sheringham, Keane and Defoe.

I hope we can keep him. I don't think we can realistically replace him like for like.
Also, his game has improved just like Kane over the last few seasons. He is someone who works on his game outside games.
He also seems very likeable and professional.

He’s far better playing as a forward than as a traditional winger. Needs to line up as a WF or a striker, he’s completely wasted hugging the touchline.

Son needs to be in and around the dbox. I have nagging feeling he has ability like cr7 to score 30+ goals in a season.. But we need space creators like higuain/benzema to do that ... Can kane sacrifice his goal scoring appetite and become a support striker for Son?

We've needed to see that from him for a while now. Not vintage Son, but a big improvement over his most recent performances.

He played better because he was used as a second striker not a wide midfield player who is expected to tackle back like Moura did so well yesterday. Kane and Son can continue to be a prolific partnership when they play in a 3-5-2 or 4-4-2 . Playing Kane by himself just Doesn’t work any more especially since he has yet to regain his form from 2 or 3 years ago.

They both looked far happier as a two, sharing the burden of running. Issue is whether we can construct a midfield which maximises a front two. Even more reason to go all out for a top dm.

Much has been made about the tiff between Lloris and Son. Yes, modern footballers need to track back. Yet it is perverse to use Son in a defensive mode, just as it is madness to put Sissoko as a striker. Son is not a tackler; he is a runner, a worrier, a terrier of opposition's defence. Though hardly at his best, he was much more effective playing alongside Kane as a secondary striker yesterday. He scored one and made the other. We need to build the team around Kane and Son. All we need is a midfielder with vision who can provide through balls to them. Lucas put in some marvellous passes for Harry yesterday, but for the goalkeeper, Harry would have at least two. Son and Harry, IMO, must be kept, because we just do not have enough money to buy the replacements who could do as effective a job as these two talisman.

I think 3-5-2 is a good shout and Winks has also had some of his better games in that system.

Alternatively we need to go proper 4-3-3 with Son not staying out so wide with a Bergwijn on other flank providing the wing play.

If we can buy someone like greenwood or another left footed forward and have a proper DM(Hojberg) and a box to box cm like savic along with Lo Celso, I think we will see much more attacking intent in our play.

I am willing to give away both lamela and Moura for a left footed forward ...

Why not go 4-4-2? I mean it's due a return, and teams like Atletico Madrid currently are doing well with it. Ok, you lose out on the midfield, but it's easy to be defensively organised, and Son and Kane are good and clever enough players to do damage from it. The way Atletico do it is with one CM and a hard working winger with width still largely coming from fullbacks. This is to try and counter balance the being outnumbered problem.

It could legit work. Football is cyclical and 4-4-2 is definitely due a return. We would need another competent number, but I can say Dele fitting in that role quite well, in fact it might suit him perfectly, and Lucas could cover as well. I'm warming to it.

Something like this

Son Kane
Lucas Winks Lo Celso Sissoko
Davies Dier Toby Aurier
Lloris

or alternate

Dele Lucas
bergwijn Skipp N'Dombele Lo Celso
Sess Tanganga Sanchez Foyth
Lloris
Now obviously, I'm only using players that, for now, are at the club next seasoon and strengthening would be needed. I'm also not trying to suggest 1st team second team, just looking at potential options is all. But I actually really like the look of this. Lo Celso could easily do a Koke type job and I can see this actually helping Son, Dele and Kane get to their best. We are likely to play a lot more deep balls and play without the ball for large portions of the match but I like it.

If we have a proper dm who is a positionally discipline and a box to box cm who has two main traits: 1. Positionally discipline and cover the ground 2. Can dribble like ndombele/moussa dembele , I think we can easily play 442 formation ...

Even Lo Celso can be used as right or left winger but he will not play as winger rather right or left sided midfielder and without the ball will defend as a winger - I think this system can bring the best of Son, Dele and Kane as kane is not getting younger and he needs support in the final third.. Also when son plays as a winger, we miss his finishing ability inside the box and we all know dele is at his best when he runs to the channel and play as a support striker ...
