incredible goal by Son today.

Might as well close the competition for goal of the season and just award it to Son now.

90 yard run
11 touches before he strikes
10 seconds from first touch to goal
7 players ahead of the ball when he receives it including the keeper
2 additional burnley players huffing up his ass

Only one Sonaldo :playful:

Trying to watch the game again on Sky Sports but can’t get past that Son goal, I must of watched it 10+ times now, incredible goal.

Total privilege to watch live at the ground.

There’s been a few debates loosely comparing him to Bale but I honestly think he is a better player. Bale carried us for sure in 12/13 but that I feel that was because AVB built the entire team around him. Has Bale ever scored s goal for us like son just has? That’s not to mention his goal against Chelsea last year that was somewhat similar and also one of my favorite goals of the past few years - his rocket equalizer against west ham in 17/18 that was just incredibly powerful. I’m not exactly a huge fan of long range goals but something about that strike was just utterly astonishing.

Apologies for the spam in this thread. I just love the guy.

Son is in an all round better team than Bale was though. If Bale of 12/13 was in this team he'd probably have scored even more than he did that season.

All hypothetical but I actually do agree that Son could be better than Bale if he continues his upward trajectory.

I love Son as much as the next Spurs fan and we’re lucky to have him, but carrying a whole team week in, week out can’t be just dismissed so lightly.

Also, Bale scored a goal away at Norwich which was similar. Not as good as Son’s today, but still a brilliant individual goal from inside our half.

Anyway, agree with your sentiment. Son is a top class player and a joy to watch.

Shame we don’t have the resources to bring Bale back, as a front three of Son, Kane and Bale is mouthwatering stuff.

First goal v Inter springs instantly to mind...

I do love Son, though, he's one of my favourite ever players, and for me his goal today was up there with Giggs and Weah for best running-through-an-entire-team-on-your-own goal of all time.

Love Son but to say he is better than Bale is nonsense. Bale at his peak was the third best player in the world behind Messi and Ronaldo. Son is not the third best player in the world plus Harry Kane is a better player than Son.

People have short memories about Bales time with us! He’s scored plenty of goals like that two against Norwich and against inter.

It was an astonishing goal, he’s the only player we have capable of scoring that goal and his ability to set the stadium alight (figuratively speaking) makes all the frustrating moments aside.

Yesterday there were no frustrating moments. I can already see some Mourinho effect, he’s playing far more with his head up, passing through, holding the ball up so the others can catch up if the shot is on. Our current front four is disgusting.

With Son's goal in mind, here's some Greavsie Nostalgia Jimmy Greaves
Honestly I think he was the most naturally gifted goal scorer of all time. What that video didn’t show particularly well was the terrible state of the White Hart Lane pitch in those days. It was either like a ploughed field or the beach depending whether it was early or late in the season. How they played football on it I’ll never know.
