Ally Gold dropped this bit about Reguilon and his buy back clause

That clause would see Spurs make a profit of 50 per cent on the original deal should Real return for him at a later date and the player of course decide to move back to the Spanish capital. There are also reports of a second clause which states Real will have first option to match any accepted bid by another club.
Fine by me.

Whatevs. We need him. If he goes back it'll be because he's played really well and we make money

For anyone saying about Regulion meaning we might play 3atb, I very much doubt it.

Tonight Davies and Doherty are both pushed on and Hojyjberg is dropping in to make a 3 in build-up but its still a 4-2-3-1/4-3-3 set-up, will be same with Regulion i think.

So I reckon we’ll get Reguillon announced tomorrow morning/early afternoon and then Bale will come later in the day!

I'm so happy he is joining as one part of our creativity problem is lack of technical players. Who can dribble past players or play under pressure. None of our back 4 last season could do that. Doherty and Reguilon are much better with the ball then Aurier and Davies. Still holes in midfield (although bit of hope with Tanguy after tonight) but definitely good direction.

Yes that's very much how we used to play when Dier was DCM. He would drop deep to split the CBs and the full backs bombed forward.

When you look at the formations we used under Poch that sort of 4-2-3-1 was used a lot more than 3-4-3. Everyone remembers the 3-4-3 but it was only really used as plan A in the second half of 16/17.

We obviously know this one is done but he’s liked a tweet wishing him good luck in England

I've always liked Ben Davies. He's a decent defender who gives his best and never gives an ounce of trouble. He'll be a solid and reliable back up who can also move into a back 3 if needed. However, Reguilon will, IMO, be a fantastic signing for us. He has all the attributes to be a real quality LWB who is a decent defender and a dangerous attacking option. Could quite easily be our signing of the window even though for now it's a bit over-shadowed by Bale mania.

Yeah, but Davies isn’t that great of a defender either. He makes mistakes and gets beaten by pace all the time that lead to balls coming into the box, wingers dribbling inside for a shot or actual scoring plays. I think Davies is a great guy, but never thought he was good enough for a top 6 side and he always felt like the weak link in the team of 2-3 seasons ago.

So, Ben Davies goes away with Wales, taps up his best mate for us... who agrees to come home, BUT then shafts poor Ben by bringing a left back with him from Madrid... and now the poor lad is getting a shoeing on SC!

Leave Ben alone. He’s having a nightmare week as it is!;) ... (and I’ve not included his stunning through ball to Richarlison:sneaky:)

Much like with Aurier, Ben now has serious competition for his spot. Meaning he has to work his ass off. Always thought the hate he has is unfair. He's not world class, no. But, he's a solid pro and one of the few who came across well in the documentary I thought. We have 4 senior fullbacks again. Makes me incredibly happy.

Agreed Davies gets stick for being played out of position. He is not a natural left back let alone an attacking one. His best position is LCB which is his position in the welsh team.

Anyone know how to pronounce his surname? I always end up inadvertently putting on what sounds like a French accent, which can’t be right.

I think it's pronounced pretty phonetically with a hard g. Reg-ee-lone. That's how I've heard it pronounced anyway

I think this is how Poch set us up during those golden seasons (being undefeated at WHL) when we had an in form Dier who would sit back from deep CM and make an extra man at the back (unless we were chasing the game!)

Got to feel a bit for this lad his signing is going to be completely over shadowed by the Bale deal . Which in some ways is a great shame because he looks a quality player that can take us up a level
