Got to feel a bit for this lad his signing is going to be completely over shadowed by the Bale deal . Which in some ways is a great shame because he looks a quality player that can take us up a level

Gareth Bale is his hero, sharing a private jet with Bale to sign for the same club together as headline signings will be a dream come true for him

It's a good thing personally as he can go about his business quietly, there won't be too much pressure on him.

If he was our 'big signing' itd be different. Plus Bale is his pal so they'll likely stick together with Bale looking out for him.

I am guessing Bale & Reguilon will be coming over together?! Saw it reported yesterday and I guess it makes sense. Feel sorry for Reguilon, he is a fantastic player within his own right and will be massively overshadowed today. Really looking forward to him joining us, our left side now with him and Son/Bale could be quite explosive.

I actually think its a good thing, if he was announced before Bale there would be replies of 'Announce Bale everywhere.

Also may take a slight bit of pressure and focus off him to allow him to settle quicker. Let his performances on the pitch call for the spotlight.

Agreed Davies gets stick for being played out of position. He is not a natural left back let alone an attacking one. His best position is LCB which is his position in the welsh team.

I don't think that is completely true. He is a natural left back but as his career has developed it has become clear that he is better deployed as a LCB in a three.

Overall I agree though, he is a useful player who will be a far better backup than a starter.

He's a huge bale fan boy I reckon he is stoked.

If we are getting him for €30 mil or less, then that buy out clause isn't the end of the world....

We probably won't be saying it if he becomes a fan favourite, but 45m would certainly give us enough means to find another good attacking LB replacement (if Sess and Cirkin aren't ready). I think it's a deal we had to take a punt on. The improvements this could bring to our football this year alone could be well worth it.

We had ITK yesterday I think which stated the buy back clause isn't as one sided as you may think. There are lots of factors which need to be taken into consideration with any potential buy back clause with the main one being Reguilon wanting to go back. If he has the LB spot down with us and we are looking like we may be moving in the right direction, he may want to stay with us. Madrid also aren't short on LB options so lots of different factors to acknowledge with any potential future deal.

How can left back not be ‘his natural position’ when he’s played there for - literally - his entire club career?
I said he was not a natural left back which is slightly different from not his natural position. He plays at his best when he plays LCB. Slightly different interpretation would you not say?

Less pressure on him then. He's a young lad coming to a new country so could be good for him. If it wasn't for Bale people would be talking about him being our most expensive summer signing.

A semantic difference, but you're still saying that a 27 year old player is not a natural fit for the position he's played his entire career in.

Essentially a glorified loan then, because we all know that Madrid will most likely have him back in a couple years time. Completely fine with it tbh, especially if it means making a ~€15M profit in the process.

Anyone know how to pronounce his surname? I always end up inadvertently putting on what sounds like a French accent, which can’t be right.

I heard an interview where it sounds like they are pronouncing it a bit like 'Ready On' but just with a hard 'g' instead of a 'd'.
Fabrizio Romano also calls him that here... sorry for the Man Utd content.
