I agree that it would be best for Reguilon to be announced today. But not because he either needs or wants the limelight for a day before the Bale announcement. I don’t suppose that he could give a monkeys about that.

But I do think that the club would prefer to allow a little space between the announcements because it will attract a greater amount of good publicity for them.

Sky Sports:

BALE, REGUILON TO FLY TO LONDON ON FRIDAY

Gareth Bale
will fly from Madrid to London tomorrow before signing for Tottenham.

Plans are in place for Bale and his team-mate Sergio Reguilon to fly together on a private jet from Madrid.

Negotiations have continued to progress well overnight and whilst no agreement has been signed, a deal is expected to be concluded before the two Real players head for London.

The 31-year old Welsh international owns his own private jet, but it would be expected for Tottenham to organise the players’ transit.

I thought reguilon was already here?

This has probably been posted already so apologies but it’s a good read for anyone like me who doesn’t know this dude at all. He does sound like a great player but in this report it suggests he’s more suited to a team who press high rather than sit back in a block. In part due to the fact he’s quite a aggressive defender and likes to win the ball high up the pitch. The report does seem to focus on 1 game against Grenada, though, but it still appears to be a good write up on him.

Doubt it will be today, most likely club will make sure everything is signed before Plovdiv and then announced the following morning to soften the embarrassment of us being knocked out the Europa League.

Listen if you're fucking suggesting that spurs are capable of absolutely murdering some incredible feel good factor surrounding the club with a tepid performance on the pitch then I have absolutely no rebuttal.

I've accepted this now, so I just hope everything is signed beforehand if not announced so the poor bloke can't do a runner.

With Reguilon and Docherty it's a shame we don't have the kind of DM who sits deep like Dier used to but can spray the ball about like Pirlo. Would be such a balanced side, can't ask for everything though lol.
Its a clear and gaping hole in our team! Really not sure why Jose doesn't see it! We have zero creativity or ball-retention ability for this exact reason!

First time since Walker left that I've felt comfortable with both first choice fullbacks.
Arguably Aurier and Davies/Sessegnon are better backups too. I know Aurier might leave but hardly a bad option to have for cover, not good enough to be a regular but done a decent job for us overall and i'm certainly not going to moan if he's involved as a squad player this season.

Agree that both sound promising but I will wait to see them perform in a Spurs shirt before getting carried away. We have seen it too many times when signings don’t live up to our expectations.

I think the Rose/Davies and Walker/Trippier set were probably better but not by much, I'd certainly keep Aurier as backup. The top clubs need depth, especially with the upcoming congested season.

I think tanganga is a better fullback than Aurier and it isnt even his position.

To be honest, the bigger issue is play through the middle. The fullbacks get poor service due to a lack of a decent passer in the middle. They also have few passing options when they are carrying it forward.

Ally Gold dropped this bit about Reguilon and his buy back clause

That clause would see Spurs make a profit of 50 per cent on the original deal should Real return for him at a later date and the player of course decide to move back to the Spanish capital. There are also reports of a second clause which states Real will have first option to match any accepted bid by another club.
