Imo the signing of Reguilon actually eliminates the need for a cb. It frees him to be the 5tH /6th cb Too

I'd rather keep Foyth. We'd have Toby, Dier, Sanchez, Tanganga, Foyth and Davies (assuming CCV moves on). Not sure that Foyth will see much of a future for himself though, which IMO is a bit of a travesty.

So we had the airport ITK on him and Dan KP saying he was in London yesterday.

Now Sky and Ally saying he's in Madrid.

Guess it's possible he did both but would seem a bit weird to fly 3 times in a week.

I'd be far more inclined to believe Dan KP over Sky but equally Ally knows his stuff so it's anyone's guess at this point.

Most important thing is that both deals are moving forward, if not already done.

Would have thought we'd announce Reguilon today to leave tomorrow free for Bale ... but it doesn't really matter when it's announced as long as he's ours ?

would be nice to have reguilon announced today, so he can have his "moment" and not be overshadowed by bale.

In terms of tactical aspect and performance this signing will be the most exciting.

We have been god awful in the wide areas these past 2 years or so. No underlaps, no overlaps and have really lacked the dynamic to hurt teams.

Aurier has done it to a very limited extent on the right but lacks the pace and drive on the ball.

Doherty showed that he's very effective in timing his runs and exploiting space from the right side.

I expect Reguilon to be even better on the left side.

I think modern football your full backs and defensive midfielders HAVE to be able to beat a player, you can't just rely on passing and others moving. You need to be able to take players out the game and move players out of position.

We've really lacked that these past two years.

A left back who can run at players adds a whole dimension to our game.

To me that looks like the best team we've had in decades

I think 4-2-3-1 is more likely though:

Lloris
Doherty--Toby--Sanchez--Reguilon
Hojbjerg--Lo Celso
Bale--Alli--Son
Kane
Hell of a good 2nd 11 too:
Hart
Aurier--Dier--Tanganga--Davies
Winks--Sissoko
Moura--Ndombele--Bergwijn
Lamela
That's a strong squad and we still have Sess and Gedson. I would have Gazzaniga as no 2 as well. Just a striker from being the strongest and balanced squad we've had in a long time.

The thought of Son and Reguilon on the left side, and Bale and Doherty on the right is mouth-watering. If we can shift the ball from side to side quickly in transition it would be impossible for defences to cover all the spaces.

Agree, this is an absolute game changer. To say we'd become predictable using the lop sided right back formation would be a drastic understatement. Reguilon gives us so much balance, the kind of attacking threat we were sorely missing, and in some ways gives us a replacement for Vertonghen because it means that Davo will be free to operate as a left footed centre back which we will no doubt need as the season goes on.

Same with Bale. SSN had footage of him rocking up at the Madrid training ground.

Hope it is announced today, he deserves to have the spotlight for a bit, if they announce them both tomorrow Sergio's news will get drowned out.

But you will get the 'announce Bale' comments across social media, so will be drowned out anyway +our game

I just hope his announcement wont be riddled with “announce Bale.” Reguilon is a massive signing in his own right and a real statement of intent. Just a huge coup for Levy to beat United to him as well as Bale.

This is one of those player threads I was watching assuming we had no chance of signing but was praying would somehow happen for us. I think he will be immense, I can’t wait to see him holding up the shirt.

BALE, REGUILON TO FLY TO LONDON ON FRIDAY

Gareth Bale
will fly from Madrid to London tomorrow before signing for Tottenham.

Plans are in place for Bale and his team-mate Sergio Reguilon to fly together on a private jet from Madrid.

Negotiations have continued to progress well overnight and whilst no agreement has been signed, a deal is expected to be concluded before the two Real players head for London.

The 31-year old Welsh international owns his own private jet, but it would be expected for Tottenham to organise the players’ transit.
