Don't get the Serge is the worst crowd. He was bad with moments of quality. He has improved and making fewer of the bone headed plays we were accustomed to. I say keep him to see if the present trend continues. Better recovery runs, staying on his feet and better positioning could make him a solid option. Jose is good at teaching defending principles

I did a post a few weeks back comparing him to Rose/Walker I think, and he's already scored more than Walker and is probably not far off assists now. Different players, but attacking contribution is good.
Aurier's benefits outweigh his negatives. But very very different. Rose and Walker were fundamentally defenders first. OK Walker often relied on his pace to make up for his mistakes but both Walker and Rose would effectively do both. Aurier is a good player, and honestly a seriously underrated crosser. But he is not a defender. He is aggressive in a tackle sure (often too aggressive) but switches off an aweful lot and often seems to not know which man he is supposed to be marking etc.

I'm happy with him, right now he is a key offensive weapon, but not close to the level of Rose and Walker in their prime.

Good game from him. He looks like he's in the best condition he has been in since joining us. Strong and quick. Starting to nick quite a few tackles and interceptions now, whilst also supporting attacks and is putting in some decent crosses. This role suits him.

Acid test will be the next couple of games against tough opposition. Will he ever be able to cut out the mistakes, time will tell. He certainly seems to be hitting his best form in a Spurs shirt however.

People won’t like to hear it but he’s probably a contender for POTY, we haven’t had many standout performers this season.
I was thinking of this recently but truth is he probably is. Personally I had Kane down before his injury. I mean he wasn't playing his best but contributed a lot to the team and was still scoring. I also thought about Toby, for the sole reason that he, well, has been a lot of games and erm has probably been our best defender? But I think he's had a poor season. Thing is people tend to remember the performances in the last third of the season, so anyone who hasn't been awful is in the running.

For example last season in a Poll on this site around xmas the top 5 were

1) Sissoko 54% 2) Son 15% 3)Toby 11% 4) Dele 8% 5) Eriksen 7.5%

Sissoko way in the lead then the 4 after all pretty close.

By Feb votes had shifted pretty dramatically

1)Son 65% 2)Sissoko 21% 3) Toby 6% 4) Kane 3% 5) Verts 1.5%

Top three stayed the same, but concensus began to form. Eriksen's and Dele's early season good form forgotten only three candidates getting anything more than a few votes.

By the end of the season things changed dramatically again. For what it's worth I personally thought Son was the rightful winner with a lot of the Sissoko votes coming from the novelty of his massive improvement (though I think he was clearly second by a long margin).

1) Sissoko 83% 2) Son 13% 3) Verts 1.5% 4) Toby 1.5% 5) Rose 0.6%

Massive swing again. Everyone switched to Sissoko, the other candidates were taken out of the running. Once again Dele didn't get a single vote, and Eriksen a generous one, Kane didn't get anything either (probably as a result of injuries).

So although no one has really stood out It's really going to be the last few months where people are going to decide. At the end of the day, no one ever seems to remember who was playing well at the start of the season (we do seem to have a better memory of who was playing badly though, which I find interesting). It is hard though, every player seems to have their haters. But I think its hard in part because we are used to being good so our standards have dropped pretty dramatically. Were this even 2006 people would be hyped about Aurier's stats but also the production of all of the front 4. But now we simply expect more. Enjoy moments less.

He actually had a good game today, concentration levels and commitment was right up there, fair play to him!!! The issue with him is not that he technically doesnt have the talent becuase he has, its applying himself and if he can become more consistent then its fab for us.

From BBC:
  • Spurs defender Serge Aurier has assisted seven goals in all competitions this season - the only Premier League defender to set up more is Trent Alexander-Arnold (11).

Didn't watch the game live to day. Had to make do with youtube highlights. Didn't see what he did on the defensive end, but saw some great distribution/crosses coming from the wing from Serge in attack.

Would love him to win our POTY just to see the fans' reaction especially those who hate him, would be utterly hilarious lol

His crossing has improved so much since he arrived. That's what suprised me the most cause some players seem to be unable to learn this. And I always thought that would be the case with Serge. But you can see that he is much better in it right now.

Having a target man who is decent in the air would make his crossing into the box a lot easier. Majority of the time he has to play it into the near post runner or cut it back which has a greater percentage of being blocked by the 1st man. He looks a little less rash than his early days

Getting better for sure. Alongside the intro of Tanganga, it's giving us defensive options...which is bloody handy

Do what do people this of Aurier this season?

Whilst I don’t think he’s quite good enough for where we want to be I would actually go as far to say that he’s been our best player so far this season. He’s making less brain fart errors and he’s not bad going forwards.

I remember posting in the latter days of Poch how Aurier is currently our best RB option ahead of KWP and Foyth and I think his performances recently have proved that.

However I do hope we upgrade on him this summer as that attacking RB role seems like it’ll be key to how we play under Jose and given how much of the ball Aurier gets he’s fairly wasteful, but so far much much better from him this season.

I think Aurier has been one of our better players since Jose came in. I thought he ran GLC very close for man of the match for us yesterday. I have previously been very critical of him, but credit where credit is due, he's improved massively. Put in a couple of ropey crosses but as has been said, it's hard to judge when we don't really have a proper target in there.

So many people have him on their 'out' list in transfer business, presumably blinded by their dislike of him because they can't be watching his performances. His stats this year are outstanding and, IMHO, he's the most improved player for us. Jose playing him further forward with less defensive responsibility has been the making of him this year.
