Really like the look of him so far, mature for a 19 year old as you'd expect with his experience.

As for the need to beat his man more and get crosses in, it's an issue in the long run. But for now with Moura, Lo Celso, Lamela, and Eriksen as our runners in the box I can see why it might be preferred to keep possession and try to intricately break the opponent down in the center of the pitch instead of serving balls into the abyss.

I kinda like that he doesn't force the issue too much. The times where he's in good positions, he always has an idea about what he wants to do with the cross instead of just whacking it in and hope for the best.

He’s just gotta be more aggressive when on the ball. Maybe then he’ll get the ball when he making those good runs behind that we love to ignore.

A bit like GLC, i think Sess is holding back and not sure why i.e. perhaps he is worried about getting injured or he think he is going to get there with his pace but doesnt. Im not sure but needs to be stronger in one or two areas.

He looks decent but so much more to come eventually

They’ve had to wait an absolute age for their opportunity and that brings with it a lot of anxiety and fear of getting things wrong. The hard part is realising that trying to be safe is what causes you to get it wrong but they just need time to get through the early jitters and they’ll smash it.

Not sure about that, Bale’s speed was frightening and was obvious from debut. Not seen the same physical attributes in Sess. Haven’t worked out yet what type of player he is yet
Whereas Bale was explosive I’d say Sess is precise. His movement, his crossing and finishing can be clinical. I think we’ll see him put in a lot of quality balls once he’s confident and the team knows his movement. He’s never gonna be skinning players for fun like Bale. He’s just not a freak like that.

You can see that Sessegnon is a proper footballer, like Jan, and unlike Aurier. Just needs time and confidence. Has all the talent.
Bit harsh on Jan there.
He's a lovely footballer, it's just that age seems to have suddenly caught up with him.

Sess needs to be more aggressively / force things when in the last third. Happy for him to play safe the other 2/3s of the pitch.

Hate to say it, but this is exactly why I wasn't impressed with him at Fulham and why I thought the signing was underwhelming despite the talent. Just looks very timid and lacks the confidence to believe he can impact a game, which at this level is a huge drawback. I know LB is maybe not his natural position, but still. Needs to improve a lot if he wants a spot in this team.

Could Come with getting older and more comfortable at this level though I imagine.

Huge stadium, big name manager and players. Can't fault him for being terrified somewhat

Had a tough one tonight but I thought he was trying to be more assertive in his attacking play trying to take players on. Didnt work out for him tonight but good experience nonetheless.

I think that the plan was for him to develop further forward first and our squad problems has accelerated the process. I think he'll be better for it in the long run. Just gotta keep giving him games.

You see Sessegnon’s quality when he’s running on to a ball played in front of him.

We did not get him into that position once tonight, despite multiple opportunities to do so.

Also he’s basically not a left back. He’s been playing as a winger/wide attacker the past few years and even Mourinho said he wouldn’t be playing him there.

He’s been forced into a position where he has to play Sessegnon there so we should expect to see nativity and errors because he needs to learn the role. We also won’t see the goals and attacking play which he showed at Fulham when he didn’t have the defensive responsibilities.

We need to give him time. If there’s anyone to blame it’s Levy for leavingus so criminally short in that position.

I don't know what it is but I just have this feeling, deep down, that he's going to develop into a monster. Once he gets used to a system (if we ever get a cohesive one) and gets the belief that he belongs at this level, he has all the ingredients physically and technically to cause teams problems.
