I wonder if Poch will take him under his wing like he did with Rose. If he does I hope Rose doesn't get upset like when parents make a new younger son and pay them all the attention.

One of the best things about Sessegnon is that according to all the news reports he only wanted to come to Tottenham. That's super exciting to see from a young signing and he's backed it with his opening statements about wanting to come in and learn and be part of the project.

I always appreciate when a young footballer with lots of options actually takes a look at the footballing situation of the club he's going to, rather than just jumping at the biggest name. It seems Sess has seen what Pochettino has done with similar fullbacks and will be excited to learn and be coached up.

And Tottenham with Bale.

I get by fine in real life, thanks pal - don't need somebody who doesn't know what passive aggression is worrying about me (this is passive aggression FYI). It's not even that I don't agree with it, it's the fact you think it's normal to be so matter-of-fact about a guy that hasn't even played for us yet, who has had 3 seasons in senior football (at just 19) and won player of the season in the Championship in his first full season - he's impressed Poch/us enough that we've paid £25m for him with a year on his contract. A kid who scored more goals in his first two seasons in senior football than Bale did in his first 6 combined.

It's nonsense. You don't know what levels he will reach. Don't act like it's because you "don't have to know much about football" (that was actual passive aggression FYI), it's because you don't have the foggiest what levels Sess can reach yet, so maybe wait before you pass stupid judgement like "not in the same level of talent as GB".

I've seen him play plenty in the past two seasons to form an opinion of his talent versus other previous talents. You may disagree, fine, but Bale was much better at 17 than Ryan at 19 is now - I don't understand how anyone can dispute that. I've seen plenty of Ryan, and in my opinion he doesn't have Bale's pace, technique, skill and nowhere near Bale's left foot.

You fail to actually read that I'm excited by signing him and think he has major potential as a WB (i.e. I think he will be a great player for us), but you seem dead focused on my opinion not aligning with yours. I just wholly disagree in the level of talent.

I could turn it around on you and say the exact same thing to you: "you don't have the foggiest what levels Sess can reach yet, so maybe wait before you pass stupid judgement"

Sorry, if that infuriates you so much.

I think it’s fair to say that Sessegnon probably isn’t as talented as Bale, mainly because this is true of 99% of footballers. Bale was a prodigy.

However, that’s not to say Sessegnon can’t become as good. I think we’d all agree that Berbatov and Kanoute have no natural talent than Kane does, but neither is a patch on him as a centre forward, and I’m talking about all round game not just goalscoring.

I’d suggest that Sessegnon has a very high ceiling, and with proper coaching and match exposure he could be an exceptional footballer as he has pace, technique and a very good awareness/ footballing intelligence.

To be fair it's hardly a damning condemnation to say someone isn't as good as Gareth Bale.
Personally I would take Sessignon over any of the Arsenal purchases this window and I think Pepe could be a cracker.

I was extremely impressed with how he spoke in the interview. He seems to have a great attitude and seemed much more confident and assertive than I thought he was. I can see him going to the very top because of this.

I think the exciting thing about RS is the combination of raw talent and pace coupled with a level of footballing intelligence that is very rare to see in a player his age. His decision making is excellent and he seems incredibly mature for an 18 year old, can't wait to see what he can do with Poch's help.
He also showed a fantastic level of stamina and work rate that was a little more apparent when he was at LB in the Championship.

Old video but still very good. It really highlights the ways Poch will likely use him.

Overall I'm really hoping we can revitalize our press of old through the 3 additions we made this window.

Much as I love Danny Rose’s never say die attitude, his final ball isn’t great.

I’m hoping that Sessegnon will be a greater threat on the left.

Pretty stupid to compare him to Bale, who is legitimately one of the best footballers in the world.

He’s a lot taller and more filled out than I thought he’d be. No wonder he’s been playing a lot of football at a young age. Even more so than when I saw him play at Wembley against us about a year ago.

Khan isn’t happy. ?

In an interview on Fulham’s official website, Khan said: “We heard from them [Tottenham] for the first time two weeks before the close of the window. We had been making all our deals under the assumption that Ryan could wind the contract down and they were not going to offer us anything. I was totally prepared for that.

“It seemed like it might be a likely scenario when he still had not heard from them a couple of weeks out, which is why I was doing loan deals where we knew the club would compliant with Financial Fair Play [FFP] rules. We had got three of our top four targets on loan but there was still a lot of uncertainty about what we could do in the rest of the window after we got Ivan Cavaleiro, Anthony Knockaert and Harry Arter.

“It turned out we were not able to buy any players because this transaction had been held up. And when I finally got an offer it was so ridiculously low that I had to make it super clear that we were not going to take a penny less our asking price, which is exactly what we got.

“If it was a penny less than our asking price I was perfectly fine for the player to wind his contract down.”

“We were so far apart that 24 hours before the deadline I was prepared for Ryan to stay at Fulham this year. We were going to get every penny that we asked for, and we got every penny we asked for. I wish it had not taken so long. People have said ‘you knew you were going to get the money, why did you not go out and spend it?’ No, until we had every penny in hand I was not going to go out and spend it.

“It was not until the middle of the afternoon on deadline day that we actually had a signed agreement. There were multiple breakdown in the closing days.

“I was glad we had done some deals early [in the window]. But the stuff we did on deadline day was greatly impacted by the sale that went through late on deadline day.
“We got Harrison Reed down to a loan with Southampton that we could do no matter what happened with our sale. Then we had Bobby Reid and another transfer we were trying to do. Bobby Reid I negotiated in loan in the final hours, and the Josh Onomah swap. The transfer I was hoping to get across but was not able to do because I did not have the money.
“The Ryan Sessegnon situation was definitely the catalyst as to why we were not able to get that transfer across. In terms of FFP compliance, it would not have been a move that was suitable for the club if we had not got that transfer over the line.

I have to say I find this a little disappoimting to hear how close we came to not getting this one done( which everyone had been told was pretty much a certainty). To be offering really silly amounts so close to the deadline doesn't seem a clever strategy and didn't work anyway.

Just giggling at the mention of Levy making a ridiculously low offer
