"Fulham are also standing firm on their £40m valuation for Sessegnon so far - while Tottenham would hope to negotiate a lower fee.

The clubs are yet to enter direct talks over a deal"

That makes it all sound a lot further away than we'd been led to believe from ITK, I find it hard to believe we've not had any direct talks.

If he has only 1 year on his current deal and currently has a bad injury then we would be daft to offer big money for him

I imagine there are several stages of “indirect talks” that would typically precede a more formal approach - doesn’t mean we haven’t been in contact at all.

If Fulham genuinely have the audacity to think they can get £40m for Sessegnon, I’d have no issue with keeping Rose for one more year then taking Sessegnon for a compensation fee next summer. Cheeky ****s

This is from sky remember, they said that GLC was off and JJ indicated later that we had made a much better bid, they may be right but I take everything they say now with a massive pinch of salt

Why would we need to shift players to sign him? He's only 19 and homegrown
I'm sure the delay is because he was away with England and now he's injured so there's no rush to get him ahead of pre-season and pay his wages.

Even Tyrone Mings is going for £20m tbf. Crazy market for full backs as everyone is trying to emulate Liverpool.

If Tyrone Mings is going for £20m and Matt Target is going for around £16m, then Sessengon is at least a £30-35m player.

Nobody will pay 40m for Sessignon with one year of his contract left. I don't think the deal is done yet as some people claim. It will probably take a little time before we can complete this deal, Fulham have nothing to lose by holding out for as long as possible. He wants us so I reckon we will settle on somewhere around 20m.

They have plenty to loose!

Longer it stretches, lesser they get. No rush as I already stated.

Weren't we in a similar situation with Barkley where he was down to the last year of contract, 90% signing for Spurs and then got hamstring injury and ended up signing for Chelsea?

From our itk I take it that we have had direct talks even if they have been non binding I just think they are using terminology to suggest a greater distance. Perhaps informal and formal would be better words to use but even that makes it seem like we've only shown a passing interest which doesn't fit to my mind.

Exactly that's my point, I don't believe it.
