I'd really prefer it if we played with a system that enabled the whole team to play as more than a sum of their parts. It's no good if one player getting injured breaks that system. One of my favourite seasons with Poch was when we had Dier playing as both DM that dropped into the back line when we were on the ball. That system was awesome and made everyone better. The vast majority of the season we played the same system and just rotated players in and out of it. The first question I had over whether Poch really was as good as I thought he was, was when I think we were playing Dortmund in Europe and he not only put out a weak side but he put out a side in a different formation to that. We were awful and got utterly spanked.

So anyway, if we are going to make Reguilon a key player we should be ensuring that there is a back up player with a similar style. The only player in the entire squad who is similar is Sessegnon. There is absolutely no way we should be loaning him out. We should be getting him playing LWB every spare opportunity we have.

Whereas I agree conceptually - one essential feature of that system was Dembele. Not only was he strong like an ox, but he could also single handedly beat the press by just ghosting past oppo. In the absence of such a unique player (or an incredible passer like Modric), oppo will press much higher in our build-up phase.

What’s he going to learn though? It’s not as if he or any other player hasn’t ever thought scoring thunder bolts from distance, smashing in free kicks, running at insane speed, crossing with the outside of your foot, being great in the air or being tall and strong, aren’t great ideas.

I just can’t imagine Sess is going to watch Bale cut inside, curl one into the top corner and be like “why didn’t I think of that?”
He could learn the amount of practice required to be the very best (believing Bale truly has the hunger again to play football) endless positions taken up in attacking areas with movement . Sure Sess already watches Kane Son etc Bale though has similar symmetry ie from being a left wingback to what he is.

Totally agree so it couldn't be the same system, but it should be a system. Rather than Dier being very deep you'd have Hojberg slightly more advanced and rather than a number 10 you'd have an extra forward thinking central midfielder.

Isn't that the point of N'Dombele though?
I mean Dembele was immense and its early days for Tanguy, but he is that exact option.

TN also has that rare ability to dribble past oppo like they were not even there.
Whereas he does not have Dembele’s raw physical strength (to simply hold off his opponent), his passing is vastly superior.
Even if TN hopefully can improve his fitness levels, I doubt that he ever will be mobile enough to play in a CM2.
So we will probably have to play with a three-man CM to accommodate him, presumably at the expense of Dele.

The decision has been made to loan out Sessegnon and there is already a frenzy among clubs from the Premier League and across Europe enquiring about a loan deal for the England U21 international.

The aim for Tottenham is that Sessegnon heads off temporarily, gets the required game time, builds his confidence and belief and develops fully as a left-back.

Mourinho told football.london this season that he believes the player has similar traits to his former Chelsea star Ashley Cole and can become a top player in the position, having bounced back and forth from an attacking role to the full-back position in his early years..

Spurs believe that in Reguilon and Sessegnon, with the guidance of Davies, they have their left-back spot sorted for the next decade and eventually will have two of the world's best young full-backs fighting it out to start.

We need to get the right club, not what Arsenal did with Gnabry. For me, Brighton would probably be my first choice, If Wolves could guarantee him the minutes, that'd be fantastic but doubt they could. Southampton is probably the only other club I think he'd really learn from playing good football.

Hope that where ever he goes he plays full time at LB. He has massive potential as a fullback, don’t think he’s skilled enough to make it here playing further up pitch.

Think Jose knows he's a talent but can't rely on him just yet so a good loan would make sense. Its a huge step-up in level for him to go from Fulham who got relegated to a side who were in the CL final, boy is talented just needs game time and experience and bulking up a bit.

Talented lad who lacks aggression, he’ll never be a left back but with some commitment and confidence might do well further forward.

A year at WBA (don’t want to send anyone to Bielsa after last season) to player under Bilic who loves an attacking fullback, returning to take the spot of a recently sold / converted to centre back Davies...

Well Gibbs got sent off today and it might be considered violent conduct, so maybe a 3 game ban for him? In any case, this is a good suggestion.

Think there will be a lot of clubs after him. Attacking fullbacks/wingbacks are very sort after, and there aren’t a lot of genuinely good ones around.

Sess can play both wing back and as a winger, apparently Jonny is primarily right back(and injured at this moment) and they still didn't sign any replacement for Doherty. Marcal can play as center back too
Sign hoever yesterday he’s still young and inexperienced though

I did just hear from a mate that Sess is going to Brighton on loan. Don’t know where he heard but his brother knows a few guys at Brighton...would be a good move. Of course it could be a load of shit!

a good place to go under a really good manager who plays football and has the whole club set up to play the same way. All my Brighton mates, many of whom are season tickets holders, not just like the manager but the style of football they play.

If true, Sess’ only objective should be tapping up Lamptey while he’s there.

Hell, maybe Potter too.

If he really is to be loaned out, that would be our best possible option I think. Lamptey and Sessegnon as wingbacks could really grow into something excellent.
