He may have physical attributes but has been as weak as piss when he's played....

Oh I agree but that is a psychological issue rather than physical. He can develop more aggression to his game with the right coaching. Ashley Cole was built like a whippet but he was one of the most aggressive and tenacious full backs this country has produced.

Still can't believe people few him as a fullback. Left of a three up top for me.

Shoe horning Sessegnon into being a left back could be a big mistake. He could easily become a wing forward... Like Bale before, it's still open.
This is the trouble with Mourinho he is not imo flexible enough to find out.

You got to take this season into consideration. We got Davies who is an establish squad player and have Jan in backup. We need to see this season through before we can start grooming Sess into a particular role. Imo José will use the pre-season to fit Sess more into the team

I think a loan move to someone like Palace would do him wonders. Whilst we have a manager like Jose he won’t be given a proper chance and we can’t take the risk in losing him. A loan for him to be exposed to some proper minutes would be ideal.

Not disagreeing with you but we bought him off the evidence of him playing at a lower level with Fulham. I can only think that a promoted team or lowly EPL team would take him which might not do him much good. IMO Mourinho has to give players like him and Foyth a chance but can't help thinking it's very unlikely.

I hope you're right but I fear you're wrong.

Okay, can we stop acting like Dan KP has a 100% track record because he listed the 4 players we wanted last summer. He's got a shit tonne wrong in the past as well.

And we’d already been linked with them anyway, separately - He just used common sense and drew up that list and enough shit was thrown that it stuck. He’s no better than the rest of them, this weird reverence for him has got out of hand.

How would he know who Barca are interested in? As if Barca are briefing local Tottenham journos. Obviously a local Spanish journo would be more likely to know about their targets than some guy sitting at home in London or wherever KP lives. It’s getting embarrassing seeing people act like his word is gospel on Spurs.

You need to figure out what you want him to be before we all start genuflecting about what happens next with him.

Only Spurs could buy a young player on the back of assists and goals and then wonder if he could play fullback.

If only there was some sort of scouse equivalent who could show how useful a fullback like that would be.

His words aren't gospel but he's worth listening to considering he's part of that little group of journalist that spurs feed information through. I wouldn't be shocked if it was Spurs that gave him the info to show how super serious we are about keeping them but either way I don't think what he wrote should be dismissed.

If only he had been a fullback his entire tenure as a footballer - not an attacker doing attacker things, maybe he'd have been on the pitch sooner - maybe?

We'll be looking for the Milner equivalent next :peeking:

He started at Left back and got moved forward  Trent also started as a midfielder and got moved back because they thought his ability would be extremely useful in the space afforded to him as a fullback.

Yet we bought him as an attacker - on the back of being championship young player of the year (whether that means anything or not to you) Last years summer window, dud/square peg round hole strikes again.

I personally don't think he's any more reliable than people like Lyall Thomas, they're all in the business of making stuff up for clicks and every now and then they'll get something right. I don't believe any of them, except maybe Alasdair Gold, are privvy to any insider knowledge fed from Spurs at all. He was considered a run of the mill waffle-peddler until last year, when he put out a list of players we'd already been linked with and we signed them.

This happened a couple years back with some other journo. It was "Ohhh if it comes from him it's likely true!" whenever he posted. Then people started to realise it was mostly bullshit, I can't even remember the guy's name, such was his fall from grace.

See I think Dan is apart of some trident of journalists who were given additional access to Spurs along with Alasdair Gold and there was 1 more I think his name was Ben Pearce, they were always given an additional interview with Poch/Jose which comes out late evening the day of the press conference. They also always seem to have the same transfer information typically and release it at the same time over the past couple of years. As I say I'm not saying that Dan is gospel but I'm also not going to dismiss it either and at the very least I consider the idea that it's info that Spurs PR team wanted out there.

Coutiniho is class and knows the league would love him at spurs
Think he'd be a marvellous signing. If you took Lamela out for him you get an upgrade, as he's more decisive and more likely to take a shot (better shot too).
You could take out Lucas and you'd have a more intelligent runner and passer of the ball.

Whilst it's true he didn't love up to hype at Barca, you could also add that Barca seemed to believe he'd be their new Iniesta, which is not the kind of player he is. Klopp also really really didn't want him to go.

In a Jose counter attacking team he could be as good as Hazard was.
