Saw a couple good breaks but not enough constantly.

Im not sure if that’s tactical though as even today as a LWB he’d barely getting past the halfway line while aurier up playing as a striker most of the game.

He's not as good on the ball as I thought but maybe it's a confidence thing. He seems extremely introverted. Even in the vid that the club put up with him playing no rules fifa with Son, Serge, and Gazza. It seemed like all 3 of them spoke more English than he could. Was really weird.

He's new , and he does seems a shy dude. Probably quite difficult going into that club. Son, aurier, lamela, Dele, and a couple others seem like really big personalities when u see their social videos.
Combined with snr guys like Kane, Hugo, and Jose. Could be a bit intimidating. Unlike anything at Fulham or England under 21s

He'll grow into it

Definitely a few more flashes of what he can do and did well for the 1st goal. Clearly has a confidence issue, which I'm not entirely sure is suited to Mourinho's man management skills.

I think you might be right about Mourinho not being the right man to develop him. He’s still young at 19, I just hope we give him chances and plenty of encouragement.

I thought all round it was slightly improved. His stats (apart from pass completions) were pretty good. I think he’s a slow burner.

It is going to take him time to bed in and get the confidence required. He is slowly showing signs of improvement which is great. Long way to go though.

Absolutely this.

When he is in the left wing position just watch him. His movement is incredibly clever for his age. Once Ndombele and Lo Celso are permanent starters in this team I think we’ll see him in some great positions to score or set up goals.

His decision making and quality of delivery is also very, very good. We won’t see it unless we play the passes though.
I agree. On Wednesday he showed he is a tidy player. He rarely had soace against the high pressing Saints and he used the ball intelligently and calmly almost always maintaining possession. As he gains the teams trust he will get into attacking positions with one two's creating his own space and space for others. Let's give him a chance. There's more of a player there than a returning Davies

Doesn't help that we've had a weird season with loads of upheaval, he signed with a hamstring injury and off the back of a relegation dog-fight with a team that could barely kick a ball. He'll be fine, but not exactly the best environment for him to make an instant impact in.

Like the boy.
Has much more upside
than Davies.
Much more positive
attitude
and creative football
intelligence.

Didn't think Mourinho
would be the man
to bring him on
he prefers them
ready made
but Tanganga involvement
tests that theory.

Did anyone else read this looking for a rhyme? (n)

One naive tackle and people are losing their minds. He's been a bit timid, but he's showing significant promise. His crossing is great and we know he'll be scoring goals once he settles. He's 19 and to claim he's not worth 25m is frankly insane.

I've wanted him at the club since the u17 world cup where he was a stand out player, probably only out shone by Sancho who left early to play for Dortmund. Foden, Brewster, CHO, they're all the same age and all still forcing their way into top first teams.

Have maybe even a modicum of patience.
Wasn’t in that team. He was in the under 19’s when he was 17.
Seems quite timid though. Bale was a bit soft when he arrived but Redknapp sorted him out.
His best season at Fulham was as an attacker. Scored nearly 20 goals in the championship.

My mistake, point stands about players in his age bracket. I must have seen him impressing at an older age group. He's got the raw materials and I've got faith in him. He certainly doesn't suffer from destructive arrogance. Some players need to be taken down a peg or two to realise their potential, some need to be built up. He's the latter. For either journey the destination can be the same.

But he has no belief at all, he lokks and sounds depressed , he looks lifeless , limp no backbone .... i dunno of its due to being at a big club, and change of manager with a huge personality like JM ... what ever ig is he needs to snap out of it and step up

He literally created our first Southampton goal with a preventative run, pretty far from the puddle of matter you describe. Be patient, if he's not performing in 12/18 months then you can hit the keyboard in rage

Pretty happy with him, given that he’s only 19.

Plenty of room and potential for the future. still not quite sure of his best position in this system though.

He isn't a typical 19 year old winger who are typically exciting due to rapid pace but lack end product. Instead he seems composed with a good range of passing and crossing. I also have loved seeing him beat players with the Croqueta on the last couple of outings.
