Mason comes across really well as a person and I wish him all of the luck in the world after what happened to his playing career. He did as well as could probably be expected as a caretaker for us but I honestly have no idea what Anderlecht think he is bringing to them versus probably dozens of other coaches, with the added impediment of the language barrier (unless unbeknown to me Mason is fluent in French and/or Dutch) and lack of familiarity with their league, teams and players

You would think he would have credibility issues from day one and you would also have to question the owners' judgement which in turn doesn't bode well for any new manager
In fairness he's coached under some incredibly storied and legitimately world class managers, managed an English cup final and multiple Premier League games. What doesn't he bring that others aiming for this level can? No disrespect to them but we're talking about Anderlecht. Who else are they punting around for that has a better working CV than Mason? Most other managers on a legitimate upward trajectory and already in a senior management role are presumably aiming higher than the Jupiler Pro? Kompany literally left City and joined Anderlecht as a player-manager with no coaching experience whatsoever.

Dutch? Aren't Anderlecht Turkish?
Oh, they're Belgian. I've always thought they were Dutch since we played them in the UEFA Cup final back in 84. Weird how something gets into your head and just stays there!

Point remains but quietly shifts geographically. :)

Surely we won't be demanding, it's a good opportunity for him.
And for us as well, we could start send loanies there.

Mad to think he's managed us in a major cup final! I hope he gets his chance personally, Anderlecht would be a great foot in the door at a level where he will be noticed if he does well.

He a bright lad and has, to be honest, worked under some great managers so if he has the strength of personality to take a little bit from each of them and forge his own style, he could do really well.

If he does go, I wish him all the best because I'd love nothing more than to see him become a successful manager.

What an opportunity that is for him. I wonder if we will try to replace him immediately.

Maybe even come back one day with some more experience under his belt and maybe a few pots...

It would be very interesting to see what sort of style his own team would play.

Has been part of too many failures here as a coach to be worthwhile keeeping I liked him as a player but really was not pleased with his time at interim playing his mates.

Super Jan to move into his coaching staff at some point 🤔

Would love him back here one day in some capacity.

Absolutely no speculation or rumours. Got a strange feeling Robbie Keane might join the staff if Mason goes.
