So it wouldn't count towards the 5 permitted subs giving Ange more flexibility later in the match.
Would more likely give Liverpool an advantage as they would also have 6 subs to call on at a much higher rate of quality. Our sixth choice would be Dorrington or Olusesi whereas theirs would’ve been Elliot or Chiesa. Hence why we only made two subs to their five.

Mentioned earlier in this thread that it wouldn't surprise me if we avoided it so we didn't strengthen Liverpool by giving them a 6th sub. They used all 5 subs and still had Robertson, Chiesa and Elliott on the bench. Their 6th sub could have been the game-changer.
It's a weird rule to have concussion sub available but then that allows the other team an additional sub

Glad to hear Bentancur is ok. His injury record since the ACL has been so unlucky

Social media is a cancer sometimes. Genuinely! No wonder fake news and misinformation gets significant exposure and then is shared exponentially by the ignorant.
100% - I saw the tweet, the facial expression, and it looked so weird - of course it looked weird because if had been vaguely manipulated to look weird too…it was such a relief to see his thumbs up post later.

If it's 2 weeks I take it he could start the Europa game. Another 3 games without him sucks. At least Sarr was rested due to his suspension so I could see him playing the next 3 alongside Bissouma and Bergvall in different games.

At least Bergvall has become a viable option to start games now so the loss isn't so heavy. But FFS this bloke is a due a run of games without a drama.

Glad he's OK, that looked like a potentially awful one at the time.

I was looking at his appearance stats out of interest and the most appearances he's made for us in a season is 26, he's averaged 22 games per season since he joined.

I love him as a player but come the summer both him and Bissouma have a year left on their contracts. At 27/28 years old, you have to think they're potentially playing their last seasons here, I'm not sure either of them get a new contract. So glad Bergvall and Gray have stepped up but that's an area that needs strengthening for sure.

Very strange looking, tbh. I'm still concerned.

I think that angle is the most conclusive. He threw himself at the ball then quite aggressively tried to flick a header.
This meant he landed really awkwardly and knocked himself out.

Yes, and his right hand didn’t break his fall as it slipped out from under him on the wet surface.

I saw rumours on twitter he had a stoke or something. But this is very conclusive. He was so committed to getting that header, he misjudged how low he was getting. If its just a concussion, he should be back & good soon

I think I saw something on twitter - so take with a grain of salt - but a 2nd concussion requires a bit of time off - couple of weeks.

Positive news in the circumstances then!

Makes you wonder why we didn't look to use a concussion sub but that's by the by now.
Maybe because the opposition also get an extra sub then and their bench is much better than ours??

edit: caught up on thread and see it’s already been answered.

Ange has now confirmed to us that the midfielder suffered a concussion and, as we follow concussion protocols, our number 30 will now miss the next two weeks.
Doesn’t explain how we didn’t get a concussion sub?

I agree with Bluto but don’t know for sure, Liverpool had a much stronger bench than us so the management probably chose not to use a concussion sub because that would give Liverpool an extra sub too.
