As a club and fan base we should be above whataboutery
Isn't it a matter of fairness? Surely as a fan and member of society you champion what is fair? I don't see people trying to dodge the bullet, merely highlighting other cases of where double standards are at play.

The rules are clear though.
It has been explained why Enzo for instance couldn't get banned by FA, it has been explained why Bentancur was facing a minimum of 6 games because of the format of his comments (they were caught on tape), it has been explained that the panel thought his argument that he was being sarcastic was weak as it was never mentioned in any of his apologies etc.
All of it has been explained in full so there are no double standards going on.
Bentancur made a racist comment, appealed that he wasn't being racist (after apologizing multiple times for making a racist comment) and has been banned for that comment within the rules that are there.
People need to stop this whataboutery, it's Bentancurs fault he got 6 games and his advisors fault for the extra game which was likely put on due to his very weak and contradictory appeal.

No point me commenting on it again as that's my view and others may differ which is fair enough go for it.

I wonder if pep will get any grief for his press conference where he said his kids go to school with Indian people, black people and normal people (not that I think he should, English is his second language after all and I don’t believe he meant anything by it) given the way people like to weaponise anything people say these days

Ban him for life.

Think this is tasteless. Some of our fan base need educating.
I’m not a fan of the joke as I feel it tries to belittle racism and make out saying people of ethnicities look the same isn’t a racist comment.

But I don’t agree it’s about education. We all have different subjects we’re comfortable and uncomfortable joking about and levels of how dark comedy can be.

It seems a bit of a needless endeavour if the minimum length of the ban is 6 games I can’t see them reducing it to less than that. Even then I’d not be surprised if we get hit with additional games for this being a “frivolous” appeal to make an example of us. Not saying it’s a conspiracy, it’s just we’ve offered them up a chance on a plate to do so.

I'll be honest there isn't much I find to be too dark if I know the intention is humour and and it's coming from a place of poking fun at a subject. There are numerous comedians of varying backgrounds that have made entire careers out of stereotyping and picking fun of race and religion. Sometimes I find it funny sometimes I don't, but it's not coming from a bad place so I accept it for what it is, an attempt to make people laugh.

Personally I find it incredibly alarming and hypocritical that those supposedly championing diversity and acceptance of all, are the same ones who refuse to accept diversity of thought and belief. I think it's a very dangerous road to be going down myself, where people are persecuted for believing what they believe. All for a different thread of course and Bentancur broke the rules. For me the debate is does the punishment fit the crime, not was there a crime committed(based solely of the rules of course).

I'm interested in what happens if someone vindictively uses racial slurs, real targeted evil shit. N-word, gas chambers etc etc. What type of ban would they be looking at - 25 / 30 / 40 games? Multiple seasons? Whatever you think of the idiocy of what RB said, it's surely at the dumbo end of the spectrum rather than overt racism with intent to harm.
