Maybe more of Gray in midfield for the next seven now that the ban is official at last.

Full explanation of verdict if anybody wants some reading material.

Looks like he’ll miss the league games versus Man City, Fulham, Bournemouth, Chelsea, Southampton and Liverpool. Plus the Man Utd league cup game. Will be good for both our EL games in that spell Vs Roma and Rangers.

Will return Boxing Day game versus Forest.

The rules are a joke that he gets this punishment whereas Enzo sang songs that IMO were worse gets nothing like this but after saying that what Bentancur said was racist and he deserves to be punished. It's just shit that it's us his employer & fans who actually ends up getting punished by not having him available.
He's let us down badly

Not sure why it had to take so long. All had been resolved, the air had been cleared but let's bring it all back up months after the event.

From the BBC article:

"The incident happened in his own time and so, as he plays in England, fell under the jurisdiction of the FA - unlike the situation involving Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez."

Oh fuck off, he was with Uruguay, the FA are an absolute farce. God forbid they have to reprimand a Chelsea player for an even worse offense.

Shouldn’t be surprising anymore seeing as he’s been with us for 10 years. But always shocked at how well measured Davies’ words are, hopefully the chat about him doing his coaching badges are true because he could definitely have a future as a coach.

It's definitely ironic. What Bentancur said was wrong, but on its own, the story, and the racism aspect, were dealt with last summer, and everyone moved on.

The FA - has done more to publicize the statement and create a public argument about it than the original interview and reaction.

FA should suspend itself for 7 games...

Completely different circumstances but it seems a countries FA needs to complain to FIFA about racism before they will act. Maybe if the French FA had lodged a complaint about Enzo's racist chant about the French then some action may have been taken.
Seems it's all a matter of jurisdiction.

Alasdair confirms what has been said previously regarding differences between Bentancur and Enzo treatment is that Enzo was on international duty so that falls to FIFA while Bentancurs interview was when he was still with us (day after Forest game) so it falls to FA

That’s fine but all people will see is the inconsistency

I couldn't care less about Enzo, just the 7 games is excessive. If this is the start of such bans then maybe it can be justified. We just have to see if that is the case going forward now. Players must watch out as one slip up and it could cost them 7 games. Let's see how similar situations are handled because this is the most severe punishment in terms of what happened.
