Yes I know it's from Twitter but spursjourno on there is saying it's likely a 7 game ban. He is very decent on transfer stories etc. usual pinch of.salt but he isn't a WUM

Making an example out of him.

I don't want to diminish his actions or words, but it all seems a bit performative given Enzo @ Chelsea is not facing anything for instigating a pretty fucking disgusting song among some of his Argentinian teammates.

That's even worse though as you might have been resting him anyway in the european matches.
It’s not even worse - it still allows us to rotate him and Bissouma between the two comps.

What feels vindictive towards the club is that the authorities have waited until a congested part of the calendar to do this, which exacerbates the impact on the club. Utterly predictable.

It’s better to have him available for half the games so we can rotate. It sucks ether way but at least we don’t need to run Biss into the ground as we know Gray will be playing RB in the EL and Ange doesn’t seem to trust him at DM. That’s said if Biss gets injured he might not have a choice.

Daniel will definitely appeal if it’s 7 matches. Seems over the top.
Harry Maguire didn’t face punishment for getting arrested in Greece.

Feels that way. This was put to bed months ago by the club and the players involved. That should be the end of it. Some debate over whether he was with Uruguay at the time or it was a pre-tournament interview when he was still with Spurs, but even so.. the evidence was right there and it's now November. If they have determined he was Spurs' responsibility, then Spurs already acted upon it. This distinction might be the reason why Enzo won't be charged - because the Argentinian FA don't care while the English FA will involve themselves when it isn't necessarily.

Meanwhile, there was a story just yesterday about a London based footballer still being questioned over several sexual assaults while the FA and that player's club (as it states in the news report on the BBC) do nothing - and presumably he is still playing.
He's been questioned for over 2 years so clearly not a cut and dry case. I'm very much of the belief they should be able to keep playing until they are found guilty, or it's beyond doubt they committed the offences like with Greenwood. Are you suggesting that his life should be taken away based on allegations and accusations that may not be true? With Bentancur he said what he said, and there is no dispute in that at all.

I think the FA should have done something, yes. Even if it was a short period where he is unavailable for selection, not necessarily a suspension as such, but something while they determine what has gone on. This is 2+ years now, and 3-4 accusations.

They will intervene in this Bentancur incident when it should be considered case closed. By the club, by both players. No need to get involved.

Yet they did nothing in this case. And yes, I think they should have done *something*, even off the record and however temporary it ended up being.

Answer to your last sentence: no.
But they can’t really start sticking their nose in when there’s an ongoing police investigation.

Absolute rubbish. By suspending him they basically out him and It's a criminal case ffs. One that is obviously very difficult to prove one way or the other. Yes some men are scumbags, but at the same time some women make shit up, exaggerate, blur the lines for their own benefit, especially when high profile rich celebrities are concerned. If he has done what they say I hope they throw the book at him, but if it's proved beyond doubt he did not those women SHOULD face charges of their own. I thought along the same lines as you and went all in on Ched Evans many years ago, I learned my lesson after that one.

Anyway Bentancur is guilty, I'm not really sure it warrants much of a suspension personally as I think it was more stupidity and casual racism than anything else, but whether or not he did it is beyond question.

Perhaps it should have come from that player's club then - but clearly they don't care either. Either way, said player should have been unavailable or 'taken out of the spotlight' for a bit.

Anyway, Suarez got 8 games for racism so this being 7 is at least in line with that.
But then look at Man City, suspended Mendy without pay, and he was found not guilty, now he’s successfully sued them for basically ruining his career.

It’s a minefield for the clubs.

In my experience fuck all happens to women who make up BS stories about abuse. Literally nothing. They can be abusers themselves and police just tend to shrug their shoulders.

Could be the odd chance to try Gray in midfield for the league if he gets suspended. Even if Bissouma starts and Gray comes on. It would be good to see him in that role.

They're busy investigating a refs comments about Klopp. That's probably jumped up their list of priorities and they can only manage one case at a time.
