We've seen both 2 and 3 game bans for racism. And Bentancur is one of the softest offenses within that matter.

Really. I read that its likely to be 6 games?!

That's what some are saying but @rabbikeane is right in his reading of where things have previously been with the PL.

Obviously, it'll be absolutely sods law that they yet again choose to make an example out of us with new tougher measures... despite the efforts to remedy the situation months ago. 🤦🏼‍♂️

He's getting back to his best when he was our 2nd best player under Conte behind Kane. He's world-class at his best and looking like getting there with some consistency. Hoping for the best with the decision

He was and it was after his injury that that season fell apart

A little speculation from POK - but I think he is on the right track. FA left themselves open to this with the Enzo Fernandez situation:

Too right we should take them to task over this charge. Especially when they washed their hands of any Enzo charge.

That must be why we've heard nothing as these things are usually pretty quickly settled upon after the hearing.

OK but it's not quite as simple as that. We have had the video / insta post. That looks fucking awful. Then the, what seems like, very genuine apology and the word from our skipper. BUT this cannot go unpunished simply for the optics regardless of what has happened elsewhere at that horrible morale-less club. This ban needs to be made and announced. I don't want it but the statement needs to be there.

There are two issues at play - and potentially in conflict with one another.

First is the morality of Bentancur's comments. We can mostly agree, that while the comments were said in jest, and with no malice, they were inappropriate and its appropriate for the club to react to that - acknowledging the inappropriateness, and also addressing the situation with Bentancur - apology, sensitivity training, some public service, etc.

Second is the jurisdiction of the FA to punish players. Again, we can mostly agree that the FA does not have unlimited powers here. And when a player is representing a club under the jurisdiction of the FA - the FA can/should respond.

But when a player is away on holiday or international duty, not representing an FA club - then the FA should not be allowed to reach out an punish such conduct - as that is outside of their jurisdiction.

The players have rights too - and protecting the players from an overreaching from the FA is as important a principle as educating players on insensitive remarks.

I'm still absolutely adamant that he shouldn't even be facing a ban.

It's mostly a moral situation that the club should look to settle themselves as it happened a million miles away from the pitch.

If the authorities must do something it should be educational.

Did Suarez's ban achieve anything? No, he came back and was a prick to Evra.

Those are all really good points mate. And well made.

I dont think the FA can ban him, as mentioned above - its not their jurisdiction when he's on international duty, so therefore they're powerless to do so.

I suspect that issue has been explored and argued by our legal department, hence nothing coming to light - yet.

I dont think he'll be serving a ban for PL games.
