Apparently it’s down to the medical team.Does the league have a concussion protocol?
Does a player have to pass certain benchmarks in order to be cleared to play?
Or is that entirely up to team medical staff to clear a player as eligible?
There was I believe a minimum lay off period of 2 weeks for a concussion, but I'm not sure if that is still the case. These things change all the time.Does the league have a concussion protocol?

Feel really sorry for him.
He's not even injury-prone, in the sense that his body keep failing him with random injuries.
He got an ACL which can happen to any player, then he was the victim of a horrible tackle from Matty Cash and now a big knock to the head.
Hoping we get a positive update on him today.
I remember Romero coming off first game against Brentford last season which was a Sunday. He played the next game against Utd which was 6 days later. I thought there was an automatic period players had to miss but at the time Sky said he had satisfied testing.Does the league have a concussion protocol?

Difference is Romero carried on so was hurt but not quiet right, Bentancur was clearly out cold and down for some timeI remember Romero coming off first game against Brentford last season which was a Sunday. Not sure if it makes a difference Bentancur's was classified as a concussion sub though because if i recall, Romero's wasnt.
It’s actually possible to get knocked out and not get a concussion. Just as it’s possible to get a concussion from a seemingly small head bump.Difference is Romero carried on so was hurt but not quiet right, Bentancur was clearly out cold and down for some time
I think Romero was just taken off as a precaution whereas Bentancur was a clear concussion
Apparently less than 10% of knock outs result in a concussion. It’s actually possible to get knocked out and not get a concussion. Just as it’s possible to get a concussion from a seemingly small head bump.
Definitely very likely a concussion though.
It's similar to the comments about Kane having "weak ankles", even though the sprains were just unfortunate.Had this same disucssion with someone at the pub yesterday. He can't be considered injury "prone" because it's not like a niggling hamstring or something like Sess battled with in recent years. Three totally freak/nasty injuries
In most cases, injury recovery timeframes can be estimated far more accurately after the immediate aftermath, so it's really not odd for a club to take some time to assess the situation before making any public statements on it.Odd that the club haven't issued an update on this
