He was looking closer to his old self yesterday. I know it's only his first game of pre-season but he was getting in everywhere and battling for everything.

Only issue is how much he can chase and press but on the ball he his world class
This is my concern with him in the 6 role.

Not the quickest and obviously there's the fitness concerns as well.

But agree that on the ball he's a Rolls Royce of a player.

I'm not sure who would be the best partner alongside him to get the best from him.

Bentacur is aggressive off the ball, he's got a bit of Lamela about him. It's on the coaches to make his defensive game top notch. On the ball he's literally the only central midfielder we have who gives the side any fluidity. If he's on top form the whole side will play better.

I thought that we really needed another midfielder in that mold rather than someone like Gallagher who had all the interest.

Possibly if we had a pressing n.o8 like a Gallagher mould type next to him that could work

I get the concerns but I've always felt there is a touch of Pirlo in him, a bit of a different role but when teams sit back, maybe him as the 6 would help keep the tempo up.

Potentially but does he have the legs now to press how Ange wants… you’d like to think so and I love him as a player!
Fully fit he does. If memory serves me right he had one of the highes distances covered per match under Conte. Last season he clearly wasn't fit.

Can't see any news on how he is yet. Glad to see him siting up before going off and hope that he's alright and there's nothing lasting from it.

Edit: curious to see a proper replay tbh as it looked like he won the header as the ball came in, so presumed something untoward must have happened seeing as he ended up layed out over it.

Same, was looking for updates; the replay was never showed right? They had all those time to consider showing it but decided not too, either it's shocking enough or new policy in place. Just hope nothing more for him already.

Rough, he hits the ground like a sack of potatoes.

I did wonder in the match thread what would happen if they're not going to show the replay on the feed, as how does that work with VAR? They presumably must have had a look at it, and would have had plenty of time to have done so. Maybe an unusual situation though as they couldn't possibly show it to the public given what happened. Presumably there is a protocol for that, but don't remember anything being mentioned about looking at it on the commentary as the concern was rightly for Bentancur.

No. 7 was talking to Ben on sideline, something along the line of back of his head made contact, to Lolo's chin presummably.
Unconscious mid air...hope no broken bones from that fall
