Yeah, perfect for him to get some minutes (not pushed into a full game). Not only that but he played a part with the pre-assist for Uruguay's second goal! Here's the clip...

Goooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaallllll

It annoys me that Nunez is starting to come good, was really hoping he'd be a flop.

That's as good as the Vertonghen assist for Son against Burnley

He just hammers it, he's certainly not trying to put it through Martinez' legs.
Agree with you, surely at the speed he's moving he's just aiming to hit it hard and low, not between the keepers legs.

He looks like he's got the raw ingredients - bags of pace, strength and stamina - but in reality he is missing a bucketful of great chances too. His misses against Luton and Toulouse in the last couple weeks were almost Ronny Rosenthal bad!

Yeah, a bit off topic so apologies but I find Nunez to be an incredibly strange player. Has so many great attributes but I always find it odd when a striker repeatedly misses really really good chances.

If he's 35 yards out, with 3 markers on him, he'll top bins it everytime.

Open goal from 3 yards? Row Z.

The actual assist was a lovely pass. My son and I were in the middle tier behind the goal. Took it well, Darwin. Both Bents and Gio came on second half and had useful cameos. Now over to the Cuti thread...

I’m confused, was it Bentancur with the assist, or is this a completely off topic post?

The original poster said that he provided the "pre-assist" so not off-topic. I think @tevezito was just pointing out how good the next pass was from a pure football fan point of
Call me an arsehole, but the original poster was months ago, and the reply I’m quoting says that Bents “contributed” to the pre- assist. Fucking tenuous dontcha think?

What are you on about?

In this case the "original poster" was @Wig, who posted

"Not only that but he played a part with the pre-assist for Uruguay's second goal! Here's the clip..."

@tevezito was at the game, and just added context that he liked the actual assist from his vantage point. Looks like Bentancur passed the ball to the "assister" - hence the "pre-assist" label.

Sorry for any confusion. I had actually originally posted saying that Bentancur had a beautiful assist, from watching the video clip of the goal with the commentator saying Bentancur, but then edited my post to say pre-assist when I realised he played the pass to De La Cruz who got the assist.

Supposedly in line for his first start tonight against Bolivia. Not sure how accurate a report it is but will be interesting to see. If he gets through it then it stands him in good stead for a more prominent role this weekend.

Let's all say a little prayer then that he gets through the match without any issues. As you say, it's good for us and him to get some minutes into his legs as we are going to need him a lot over the coming months.

Praying he starts in place of Bissouma on Sunday. That will determine how we set up. He might start further forward but would much prefer him instead of Hojbjerg.

With Bissouma out through suspension, he's absolutely key to us being able to break the opponents press lines with the ball, which is a vital part of how Ange wants us to play. Højbjerg clearly lacks the technical proficiency to do this.

He's likely pushing to start and I guess Uruguay are less protective of him than we are. I don't think I'd like to see him play the whole 90.
