It will be great to have him back after international break. Solanke will need to start the next 2 and then a deserved little rest period. Then he can go again against West Ham and hopefully we start to use Richarlison in Europe so we can rest Solanke some more.

Having Richy back will help as not only can he give Solanke a rest but also Sonny. He has played for us out left and done well enough.

I'd be surprised if he played out left as long as Werner is healthy. But, given the fixture congestions from now to January, it would be great to be able to rest Solanke and have 2 strikers fit and firing.

Ange has mentioned Richy as a left wing option and he came on as a left sided player when both him and Solanke were on the pitch so I see it as a viable option for him especially while odobert is out. A fully fit Richy starts over Werner on the left IMO

He came on against Leicester at 90'+2' - effectively as a 2nd striker.

I am not going to read too much into that...

So, other than that minute, he and Solanke have not played together this season. If we need a 2nd striker, I suspect Richarlison (or Solanke) could come off the bench for a winger. But, if we need a winger, I suspect Son, Werner, Johnson and Odobert are all ahead of Richarlison for a starting spot on the wing.

Against certain opposition, I reckon Richarlison could be used in a similar role to the one Son played at times against Brentford — tucking inside, almost as an auxiliary striker playing off of Solanke, with Maddison providing the width on the left. Something like a 4-1-3-2.

The front six could look something like this:

Bentancur
Johnson Kulusevski Maddison
Solanke Richarlison

Doubt he'll play until after the International break, but good news nonetheless. If he could last until January before breaking again that would be great.

The pressing of Richarlison, Solanke and Kulusevski would be incredible. Very few teams would be able to play it out from the back with that team.

Watching Bayern Villa last night was interesting as Villa managed to play out of the press leaving Watkins one on one with Upemacano a lot.

Although Bayern have better players in the attacking third, none of them are really effective pressers.

I'd be surprised if their (Villas) tactics would work against us (especially with the team above).

If fit I’d play him over Werner if Son not available.

Could make a big difference having him fit again. We've always needed more options up top because those positions are subbed more often than others. And our gegenpress approach demands a bit of freshness and rotation. It could be a really big deal to have him back actually and I reckon he will get some game time alongside solanke too.
