some itk from jurgenthegerman on ftl:

Some info on Richi

Scorched earth between the club and his agent and the player.
There is theory at the club that his contract is being deliberately run down.
Thereby facilitating an extremely lucrative move as a free agent.
A major stand up row btw the parties. His absence seems a strange one .
That’s what I was told by some who has just left the club.

I find this hard to believe. If he wanted money he would have just took the offer from Saudi.

It's like when rumours started that 'Lamela has a cocaine problem', when in fact he was just seriously injured and struggling to get fit.

Right, because he doesn't want to be Brazil's #9 and will do anything to engineer himself out of that position... and of course a player who hasn't played for a few years will get a super lucrative deal by saving themselves and not playing when they have how many years on their deal... hmmm

We'll be lucky to recoup even a third of what we paid.

From what Herc is saying, unfortunately, it seems like another disaster big-money signing.

Think he's just like GLC in that it doesn't take much for him to declare unfit. I hope we play Lankshear a fair bit in the Europa like we did with Scarlett. See how he develops and decide in the summer what to do. Maybe see how Veliz does as could have those 2 as competition next season. Unless we can get a top class centre forward instead and keep 2 as a 3rd choice competition.

It's all speculation at this point, not helped by Ange being so cagey about when Richi will be available.

It's a strange one because Ange seems the type to protect his players as long as they're working the right way. Maybe Richi had a falling out after seeing Solanke come straight in as the starting CF ahead of him. It must hurt for him, knowing he arrived at Spurs as Brazil's number 9 and then his position for club and country has collapsed since then.

Club want him gone! Ange had enough. Do not expect the manager to say that in public.
Pity that this wasn't decided before the summer transfer window closed to move him on. Or maybe it was decided, but Richi was turning down big money offers such as from Saudi.

That itk could be lost in rumour a bit.

I don’t think it’s beyond the realms of believability that the club wanted to take the Saudi money and when richy refused they got annoyed and said he wants a move to a big European club but as the club know there are very few European clubs that can afford him.

Then once his mates talk about it , the Chinese whisper turns into richy prepared to wait for his value to to come down so the club he wants can afford him.

Would explain why Lamela always looked a bit crazy and had those eyes and ready to kill everyone on the pitch.

Don't think so, he never had these type of problems at Watford or Everton.

I saw an Everton fan say that he ran himself into the ground for them in his last season there though, and if you look at the season he was barely ever subbed off. I wonder if he did some long-lasting damage just desperately trying to help them stay up.

I think he cares too much about making the Brazil World Cup team to sit out if he's healthy. It may very well be we are sick of his constant injuries and unavailability, but I have a hard time believing he doesn't want to play.

Now, does he care if it's for Spurs or someone else? Probably not. Maybe he's butt hurt that we paid for Solanke and he isn't 1st choice anymore so he wants out, but to say he is healthy and sitting out to run his contract down knowing there is World Cup qualifying on the horizon? Not buying it.

Makes no sense considering what he dealt with last year mentally and all the impactful work he did with sports psychologists to help him find his love for the game again.

We all saw a different player after that and it was evident given his form and play improved.

His agency is CAA base, same as nearly half our squad. Are we now falling out with them? Sounds unlikely.

Oh we're doing the "he's the knobhead actually" thing again, as we did with Poch, Lo Celso, Spence, Ndombele, Reguilon, Lamela etc. Cool.
