This is the reason why I was frustrated he didn't take the Saudi offer. Fair play to him and all but as a spurs fan I'm gutted because we can't rely on him so we missed out on getting 50m+ for him which could have helped us get someone who can stay fit for at least most of the season.
He's a nice lad but still wish he went
Yep in hindsight a few of us who wanted him to take the offer are being proved right, unfortunately we have a £60mil asset who is rarely fit and can rarely be relied upon.

This is also why I wanted us to sign another top winger as I can see Son and Kulu having to be used as strikers a fair bit this season exactly in scenarios like right now and we've not even got up and running with the european games etc yet.

So frustrating.

Hope we can sell him in Jan or next summer latest.

Annoying Lankshear is injured too as would've been nice for him to go on the bench.

I’m convinced that when players are consistently injured like this there are issues with preparation and recovery, either on the player or staff side. It’s simply not good enough and can’t be put down to just bad luck.
Yea when you combine his mental health struggles with his physical health struggles he really has a lot going on, of course we want to support the person involved but in terms of a player and a valued asset he is really poor and we need to move him on asap.

Lets hope it is only 'a few weeks' and perhaps he can be back after the international break, fingers crossed, if so we can get through the Newcastle game fine but beyond that we could really do with him being back asap.

Prediction: he will be itching to leave next summer, after playing second fiddle to Big Dom.

Definitely. I’ve been saying this from the time we were linked to bringing Solanke in. No squad is able to keep two high level strikers in their prime happy and motivated.

I do wonder if sometimes it's mental rather than physical with some injury prone players.

Fucking crock. 4th choice striker now behind Lankshear.

He's the next massive money signing we end up getting fuck all return on. Terrible signing.

I firmly believe that our #9 is cursed
In the PL era it hasnt been a particularly lucky/positive one:

Anderton - injuries
Ferdinand - injuries
Rasiak... do i need to say?
Kanoute - 2 seasons of quality
Berbatov - 2 seasons of world class
Pavlyuchencko - streaky
Soldado - didnt adjust to the PL
Jansen - didnt really work
Bale - not really his spurs number eh :)
Richarlison - injuries

Also think Richi is a confidence player. When he is on form/feeling confident he is great. The lack of rhythm will not do him any good what so ever.

Hopefully this knock sorts itself during the international break and he can be available from the bench v Arsenal and start v Coventry.

I find it fascinating that so many football fans are slagging off players that go to Saudi; that they are greedy vultures, only doing it for the money, with no moral backbone when they agree to be the posterboys for that nation´s sports washing. Re Henderson and others.

And then when one of our own players, as he´s entering what´s supposed to be his presumed prime age, refuses to go there - he´s some sort of villain?

More often than not, it's a psychological issue that manifests in the body.
The pressure he (Richy) feels under reverberates through the body and accumulates in the weakest parts of his system. That's the fragility.
People who get recurring injuries tend to hold a lot of angst in their system.

This kind of work with the human mind (which I'm involved in) reveals these issues....but it's not widely known through sports just yet. They'll have a hunch that's why....but don't have the mechanisms to get to the core context he holds about himself.

So the S&C team can work as hard as they want on Richy's fitness and all his muscles....but it will do nought-all if they don't get to the root cause of his suffering.
The story he tells himself...about himself

And not many people can do that successfully, as it''s going one level deeper than beliefs.
Beyond the realms of psychologists and therapists.
Within football, if you have a broken story about yourself (at the very core of who you think you are) it's very hard to change that....as the awareness and expertise just don't (generally) exist within the game yet.

Poor guy can’t catch a break can he? Such a shame to say it but we probably do need to move him on in the Summer.

He's not great and injured a lot. I couldn't disagree more with those saying we can't have two strikers in the squad. I'd have 4!
