This is where the Werner signing is still a bit puzzling for me.

If Richy goes we could do one of 2 things.

1.Sign a CF or
2. Sign a goalscoring winger from the left that is fluid with Son central - if we are not convinced about CFs on the market.

A RW and AM should be done regardless.

Option 2 would have meant Werner is practically pointless.
I'm not convinced option 2 is feasible. There aren't any wingers in the world that will score 20 goals, the most you'll get from a goalscoring winger is about 10 goals, which isn't enough to compensate for not having a proper CF.

It also means changing up Ange's style of play.

Werner makes sense in that he's a loan and is a known quantity for Ange.

The doubts are surely more personality/private life red flags than necessarily his ability to slot into Ange's system no?

Also age a factor here.

I'm not that concerned about his personality. Yeah he comes across as arrogant but we know Ange places a lot of emphasis on a player's character, and if he thinks he can work with him then we just have to trust his judgement.

I like the guy, but if we can cash in, do it - too unreliable. He goes with my best though and I think he’s been a great character, and at time, player for us
Worry that his durability is only going to get worse in the prem. When he’s on the pitch consistently - he finds his form. I feel that his career would flourish anywhere but England due to the physicality. And if he is feeling that there is no shot for a WC role and can make more than he currently does, I can eee why he’s interested. I think the last few seasons has broken him. From nearly being relegated to never really seeing the pitch with conte to the depression to the injuries, finding confidence while getting paid may be more important than being in a competitive league.

Agree completely. I just don't know how the club/Ange would feel about it as Eze seems to be one of our biggest wants. I'd very happily take a Baena or Doué instead of Eze if it allowed us to accommodate Gyökeres. Of course who knows, maybe the club will go all out and get all three, not impossible, but I struggle to see us getting even Eze and Neto given one we will probably have to trigger the RC of let alone those two and Gyökeres even if we have an extra 60 mil in the bank from Richy.

We have to buy a striker, I’ve been saying it since May. It’s paramount to us being successful next season. Regardless if Richy stays or goes.

If Saudi are offering £60mil for him and he is up for going then 100% we should take it and re-invest in players who are more reliable in terms of their fitness and who suit Ange's style of football even better than Richy does.

I feel like selling him would be the last big part of the Conte/Jose era departing, PEH was a classic Jose signing and Richarlison was a big money Conte signing, can be a fully fresh new start.

Whether you like him as a player or not, if you're offered £60m and you see him as an asset, as the club do, then it's a no brainer and the right time to sell from a business perspective.

He’s on the club video of boarding the flight to our tour of Japan, unless we’re giving him a lift to Saudi Arabia I doubt his departure is close

Remember when Bale went on tour with us in 2013?

Doesn't mean anything.

Let's not forget, we didn't even replace H last summer so we're already short up top.

Now maybe they think Richy can come good and are srsly thinking of converting Kulu to a 10-cum-false 9 which would help matters. Fact is we're well short of where we where this time last year at striker. Always would be when losing a striker of H's calibre but there are ways to try and at least address it somewhat.

All seems to be a bit of an afterthought RN.

I don't know much but I don't see why we can't get Neto, Eze and Gyokeres if Richarlison goes. To assume we can't suggests we only had a chance of Neto and Eze if Richarlison went and only one of them if he stayed, which doesn't seem likely. If we wanted both of them before this possibility of selling Richarlison it stands to reason it is additional funds enabling the extra player, Gyokeres.
Can anyone explain why that doesn't make sense?

Yup, Kane was scoring 4 in a friendly at home days before leaving, after touring last summer as well. Buying club doesn't gain anything from a non-fit player.

This is the way I see it. As of right now the club are trying to sign Eze and Neto, both may not happen but that's the intention. If Richarlison goes for big money, I think we go for Gyokeres as well.

I’m sure it’s not close. Interest is very different to nearly being done.

Ange will be assuming he’s staying so will work on his fitness and getting him back into playing. There’s a few in the squad that would be sold if the right offer comes in but they’ll all be involved until that happens.

If Son is our primary CF going into 2024/25 then we've failed miserably in the market.
He played around ~1900 minutes as CF this season in PL averaging ~0,8 goals or assists per 90. And this was without full preseason after having a surgery, complete change of role and international tournament mid season. He's still fantastic striker

If the reported interest and bid is true and Richy is open to leaving, we should absolutely make this happen.

I actually feel confident we'll reinvest the money well and bring in another CF that will thrive in Ange's system.

Neto and Eze are separate from any potential Gyökeres move. We wouldn't move for a CF unless we sell Richy. Richy is valued at £60 mil where as Gyökeres has a release clause of £86m (€100 mil). Now maybe Sporting come down from that but even if they do it will still very likely be more then what we get for Richy. And If they don't come down in their valuation then we would have to trigger that clause. Furthermore in order to get Eze we will likely have to pay a large part of his £68 mil release clause upfront which could well effect the rest of our budget for this window. I mean we have thus far been reticent to trigger the fee so obviously its not easy.

Nobody has said it 100% won't be possible, we have no idea maybe we get all three, but it certainly would be an understandable stretch for the club given thats three high value big money transfers who will likely all ask for large wages.
