Pleased for the boy
and for the positive implications for Spurs.
But if he hadn't miscontrolled the ball from Porro
he probably wouldn't have scored.
Poor hesitant goalkeeping too.
But they all count.

First was a classic centre-forward's goal.
The Art of standing still
More, please, Mr. Richarlison

Just saying.

F Wilson and Antonio for their ridiculous podcast comments. Seeing Richarlison score 2 and Wilson get tackled by Romero was karma for that.

Keep saying it but footballers are still human beings and get affected mentally just like the rest of us. Just because they have a lot of money and kick a ball for living it doesn't mean they can't suffer depression and anxiety. I hope this is the start of Richarlison sticking it to everyone of the doubters and haters.
Wilson & Antonio are fucking idiots for doing any kind of podcast whilst still playing.
They can dress it up as fun & ‘bantz’ but essentially taking the piss out of fellow pros in public is not going to be well received. I’d imagine some of their team-mates are unimpressed.

Wilson then topped it all of by calling Vic out for a lack of respect! Massively hypocritical and embarrassing.

Richy was clearly struggling with injury so hopefully we see a new him from now on. Those 2 goals will do his confidence no harm whatsoever.

Think the front 4 that started last game need to a run of games together

Then when maddison/Bentancur are back then the worst performing front 4 player will make way

The thing is it was only 2 games ago that everyone was looking forward to a midfield of Bentancur, Maddison and Lo Celso. Then the latter gets dropped and Kulu plays even better centrally. We were raving about Kulu 3 games ago on the right then he has an absolute stinker and suddenly he's not a winger. Johnson has a good game on the right and we've finally ulocked him. Richarlison scores two and we have our 60 million striker. Everyone gets so carried away with someone having one good game. If we play that front 4 again and we look blunt people want tweaks, so ideally yes we would settle on something and let it grow but we get restless way too quickly.

but those 4 have all the characteristics I'd want for each position. I probably wouldn't advocate it had they not scored but they do have the attributes required and is a very good mix

Ah yeah, wasn't especially aimed at you, but more of a general comment about how reactionary things can be here. I agree though. Gimme wingers who get to the byline any day

I can't believe people criticise his touch for a goal. He had to control and shoot both with his weaker foot. Many players struggle to do that on their left. It's getting a bit sad and picky, not everything has to be perfect as long as it goes in. It's also not so easy taking those pacey angled balls on the run we've seen Son miscontrol those ones.

It’s not easy and it’s also not clear what he intended. If he brings it down directly in front of him Lascelles can probably nick it off his toes. The touch was perfect, whether he meant it I don’t know

He scored, that's the be all and end all for me

I couldn't care less if the ball bounced of his foot, hit him in the face and went in the back of the net

Son would have scored easily, as would any Europe-worthy striker. An elite striker would have hit it first time.
He is a Fiat not a Rolls-Royce, and this is the reason why. His finishing and first touch aren't at a good enough level; and this will be exposed against a better/tighter defence. It's the most important quality in front of goal.
Many strikers not having a good enough touch is fine but Richy isn't the same cost/calibre as all an average striker, or at least shouldn't be. It's something he should be working on.

Son has micontrolled those balls and missed in the past so that's nonsense. It's really not as simple as you make out and not many would hit that first time either. It's a weird thing to criticise him for a goal whichever way you look at it.

Haha. Not many elite strikers would hit first time a pacy 50 yard ball coming over the shoulder, unless they're in the 6 yard box and need to touch it in.

His first touch may have looked loose but it actually took it away from the defender and drew out the keeper. It was a great goal, from Pedro's assist to finish, so I can't fathom why people are looking to criticise it.

Football fans are an interesting lot.

When Richarlison was getting into positions - but not scoring - he was criticized for not being able to score.

When he scores, he is getting criticized for not making it look pretty enough.

I get the sense that some people just don't like him, and will never be satisfied with his efforts.

Had Kane scored an exact replica of that goal the first touch would have never, ever been mentioned. It's incredible how people will pick up on the smallest detail to criticise a player.

The slightly imperfect touch made the goal. Had he controlled it precisely Schar would have been on him.

Sometimes a scruffy striker can be an asset. Richy has hunger and grit, he knows where the goal is and I hope he kicks on now.

Everyone mis-controls every now and again.
Not saying it's simple/easy; average strikers would have a tough times, better ones do it more consistently and elite ones will do it effortlessly. Just highlighting why he isn't a prolific goalscorer.
It's a goal yes. But the result doesn't justify the means.

I think he has a role to play for the squad because he offers something diff.
Thats why I didn't call for his sale in the past (pre-this game); he is at the same level as us.
However his technique isn't consistent and for me that was an example.
