He doesn't have the ball playing ability to play in centre mid. He is however, an excellent defender, so let's just leave him where he is

You've decided that on a game or two lol

I think its a decent shout, his passing is good.

You might be right but something to look out for in pre season.

He provides a great benchmark for where the level needs to be for a “squad signing”. The quality and the mentality is there, but I also like the fact that he offers something materially different as an option. He has already demonstrated the difference he can make defending set pieces and for me he should probably be one of the first names on the team sheet against the shithouse sides like Everton and Brentford. I quite like the 3 CBs together which could be something we utilise against certain teams, and I actually think he could be a good sub when we’re chasing to provide a greater threat on corners and to free up Romero/Micky to play higher up the pitch.

*as an aside, giving Romero the complete freedom to go on the rampage and create his own special brand of chaos is genuinely quite exciting and would put the fear of god into the opposition.

It’s a fantastic “problem” to have. Radu is clearly a very very elite mentality type individual with the skill set to match.
Also, with VDV at LB it has allowed Porro the chances at the other end.
Being able to chop and change to make us a different outlet is a very nice thing to have.

Liked his positive run on the ball yesterday.

Definitely think the 3 CBs could work together for some games as they're all able to pick a pass, comfortable on the ball and have enough skill, pace and physicality to drive the ball up field. The top two teams in the league also approach things the same way of course.

I think he has the potential to be a top, possibly our best ‘defender’. The pace and chaos we play with caught him out a little to begin with, but as he gets more confident I think he has a tremendous mix of pace, strength, aerial ability, commitment and ruthlessness.

He could be Romero without the crazy fire, VdV with a bit more strength (while also not having the pace of Mickey or the aura and front foot defending of Romero)

a very exciting trio to have, that’s for sure

I assume pushes are OK if the ball isn't in play but if the corner was taken surely that's a pen?

Perhaps..... that could be true...... why else had it not been done.... makes it even worse for the entire coaching team. The season is over but I'm disgusted ( I can't say disappointed.....thats too mild) with the number of goals we conceded. Game after game after game.

Anyhow he has been a welcome change to the defence in yesterday's game. I don't enjoy the Gung ho approach of Postecoglou.

Didn't we concede less than last season in the end? Disgusted... 😆

But if you push your player that accidentally bangs into the attacker then that's maybe where they are aiming for leeway. Also let's be honest those are rarely given anyway. They seem to be able to get away with all sorts!

Still only 22

Meaningless stat considering how we play, when you are possession based team who play an incredibly high line teams aren't going to try nor will they get much opportunity to dribble past the CB's they just go over the top or down the channels.
Everybody is desperate to get stats out there nowadays to show this and that, but very few of them mean anything without an awful lot of context added.

But wouldnt most of those 2000 minutes have been for his former club? Cant think he's played more than 300 minutes for us

The ref did delay the corner to have a word with him for tussling with that player - just before the clip posted above started.

Just saying it's pointless to look at these stats without context. Van Dyke is second on that list how many times do players get the opportunity to dribble past him compared to a CB who plays predominantly in a low block?

Genoa played with a notoriously low block

That’s not the point trix is making though. The point is different cbs are asked to perform totally different roles so just listing a single stat doesn’t mean much. I can very well believe that Radu is hard to dribble by based on the limited times I’ve watched him, but posts like the OP are just clickbait

I'd say Van Dijk also played more minutes, so would have had more opportunites to be dribbled at then Dragusin.

As you say, you really have to apply context to each player here as there are almost always differences that separate them
